In recent years, I have noticed reduced airflow from the vents, and poor. or no. airflow from the upper that is supposed to defrost the windshield. Also, the air conditioner hasn't blown cool in several years, but I am not a AC person, and I don't use this car for any dressy occasions, so I am not worried too much about that.

I do want to get into the HVAC system and clean out years and years of debris that is bound to be in there. These cars don't have cabin filters, but the pine needles and Birch tree junk that gets past the screen below the windshield wipers has to go somewhere. I can hear the thing trying to work to switch the air the windshield, but still not much flow up there. I think the debris may be keeping the air exchanger flap, or whatever, from working right.

I took out the glovebox and the horizonal steel bar that supports it, but I am wondering how much access I can get to the blower assembly, and possibly the evaporator, without removing the dashboard. There are some reference photos in my old Haynes book, but I think that car had been torn down a lot further, so it makes it sound easy to get to everything. I can also get access to all the bottom screws, but I am holding off for now to see if further disassembly is even worth the time without taking out the dashboard.
