About Calipers...
Hi, I have an Accord 98 4 cylinder, my rear calipers are leak brake fluid, my mechanic thinks that it's damaged, I want to know if I can install a pair of rear brake calipers removed from a 00 V6, I just notice that this calipers are a a little greater. This calipers can works for my car?

stick with the 4cyl calipers... there so close to the same it is not worth all the work to get them put on. If you want some performance from your breaks, get some metalic pads, or some brembo slotted or cross drilled rotors... maybe some stainless steel braided break lines instead of the 6 cyl rear calipers.

that will porbably do more harm then good towards the performance of your car. if the v6 caliper srae bigger you will increase your rear brake torque and mess up the front and rear brake torque balance.

OK, I understand this, but If I change all of them, the 4 calipers, the front and rear calipers, the balance will be fine, or not?

Re: About Calipers... (emegge)
yea if you swap all 4 calipers and rotors i should be ok. but you might need to switch to the V6's mastercylinder and/or brakebooster too.

Why I might change those things?

because the bigger brakes might require more pressure to make them work effectively, otherwise you might have sypmtoms such as a spongy brake pedal and decreased stopping power. Why are you so set on the V6 calipers that you're willing to spend all this extra money if you don't mind me asking.

dont be such a cheap *****, this is your brakes your talking about. Why would you cheap out on a product that STOPS your car? I'll never understand why people refuse to spend money to get decent quality brake and suspension parts.

v6 front calipers use a bigger pad and rotor than the 4 cyl. It is a fairly easy swap to do, just make certain that you get the caliper bracket along with the v6 caliper, as Honda does NOT sell it separate from the caliper. the 92 - 95 prelude si front rotor is the correct diameter and has the right bolt pattern

Re: About Calipers... (emegge)
ok man. just go buy the correct caliper for your car. trying to save money by going with the v6 onesa is just going to cost your more $$ and more labor time in the end. and you obviously arent very technically inclined since you dont even know what a caliper bracket is. so i highly suggest you just go buy the right caliper for your car.

If you cant see which part in that pic is the caliper bracket, log off the interweb and go kill yourself.

.Sorry, that was harsh. What I meant to say was, do not attempt any repair to your brakes if you do not know what the different components are and how they work/what they do. You could seriously injure yourself, or others due to poor knowledge and experience in this repair.

Sorry, but my English is not too good, I don't know which is the meaning of "bracket", I just signed in this forum because, I don't find Spanish web where talking about Honda's.
I'm really sorry for the inconvenient .

Re: About Calipers... (emegge)
Look at the parts inside the line marked #4 & 5 - that's the caliper along with the caliper bracket. The caliper is the part to the left, containing the piston. The caliper BRACKET is over to the right; it's the part near the clips #16.

Re: About Calipers... (emegge)
the bracket is the piece that mounts the caliper onto the suspension. the rear caliper you show do NOT have the bracket attached to them.
I am always suspect of used calipers. who knows how many miles they have on them or how long they have been sitting. I wouldn't put used calipers on my car without rebuilding them first. just my $0.02
