99 accord cd/ audio code??
Is there any way other then paying the 86 bucks they quoted my friend on to give him the code for the radio/cd player. They say they have to look at the serial number to find it out. If that's the case, I can do that on my own. Can I just look it up anywhere or call in and tell them the serial number and them give it to me? The battery went dead and can use the ausio now. Sorry if its the wrong forum

Re: 99 accord cd/ audio code?? (murmur9)
Since you have a 99 this may or may not work since I think they started electronic serial retrieval in 2000, but its worth a shot:
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
2. Turn on the audio unit, and make sure you see
COdE in the display. If you don’t see this
message, remove the backup fuse for
1 minute, and then go back to step 1.
3. Turn off the audio unit.
4. Press and hold the 1 and 6 preset buttons,
then turn on the audio unit. The display
toggles between two screens. The first screen
displays a U and the first four digits of the
serial number (for example, U2200). The
second screen displays an L and the last four
digits of the serial number (for example,
L0055). Ignore the U and L, and write down
all eight digits
If not, see if you can contact the original dealership of sale and they may have the radio code in the service dept. vehicle service history.

Re: 99 accord cd/ audio code?? (CB7VTEC)
Bump...
Thanks for the info. I'm kinda wondering if there is anyway on the net or any number to call so I can just tell them the serial number and finding the code out. I went to the dealer they got it from, it was used and they said they got it from an auction. Any advice to get the radio code?

Give bill-71SS the serial number and he says that he can send you the code. Or get the serial and stop by your local Honda dealer, though if they want to charge you for the code even though you have the serial number in-hand, walk away.
If you want them to remove the radio to get the serial number, of course some labor will be involved and they will charge for that.
