Default 98 accord v6 transmission problem

I recently had an alternator go bad.(98 accord v6 138,000miles) One of the first symptoms was the tranny started acting up- slow shifts and would completely kick out of gear at times. I drove it less than 2 miles with this happening, had it towed, alt replaced. But ever since the shifts still aren't right.(Mechanic said take it to Honda) It doesn't downshift right, sometimes wanting to stay in 3rd unless a complete stop is made or will downshift hard with fast acceleration. Most upshifts are good especially when accelerating fast but sometimes not real smooth (grabbing) with 1st to 2nd and sometimes delayed (slow) shifting. I changed the fluid x3 with Honda fluid and it helped some. I know these are problem transmissions, but hoping it's just electronics. There is no slipping. Any ideas? Thanks

You had the alternator replaced for a tranny problem? Call me crazy but that doesn't make sense.

You can try replacing the ECU (as I think the TCU was nixxed and added as a part of the ECU) but more than likely at that mileage with a v6 you're looking at hardware being bad.

The bad alternator (low voltage) was causing the electronic shift problems and complete stalling over 35mph. The battery was also almost dead. Shifting is much better with the new alternator but still not right. Could a linear solenoid be bad?

Interesting solution...

I'm not 100% on top with your year cars other than the known tranny problems. So I honestly can say I wouldn't know the first thing to trouble shooting a solenoid.

with the amount of miles you have on your car, changing a solenoid would do much but waste your money. i bet you have some internal leaking in the transmission
