Default 97 accord se wheel bearings

Whats the best way to check front and rear wheel bearings. I get a low pitched noise which seems to pulsate between 40 and 50mph. I thought it was road noise due to my tires. I just put on my snows and I still get it. It will cause a buzz at around 45mph in my rear speaker area. The front end seems tight with no play and there is no play with the wheels off the ground.

Well you gotta find out where and which tire it is coming from,my 95 accord which i purchased used was like that, like a humming noise.i could tell it was coming from the front passenger side of the accord,at first i thought it was just an aligment issue but after doing some research it was my wheel bearing, you could diy like i did you would just need to go to your local machine shop to have the bearing press out and press in the new bearing.check out this forum for threads regarding bearings,if you can't find any let me know and i will link you to some great diy threads..Man for some reason it is getting cold in here BRRR!

get the wheels off the ground and grap a hold of the top of the tire and push it toward the car and pull it toward you briskly. if the wheel moves and your lugs are tight, you have a bad wheel bearing.

I actually have the same issue right now in my 96 Lx. It sounded like it was coming from the front passenger wheel bearing. I lifted the car off the ground to see if there was wobble, but nothing. With the little time that I had, I took it to Honda and they reported that it was the front wheel bearings, both of them. The passenger one was worse, but neither are to bad enough to need replacing. It's been a month now, and it has gotten significantly louder. I was quoted $420 parts & labor for both sides total.... That doesnt seem right, but I have it on paper.

dont know about testing at 40 or 50 mile per hour but the way I found my wheel bearing noise was to get the car rolling at nicely paved road (make sure its not concrete road, its loud) then I shift to neutral to take away all the noise from trans and engine, and listen carefully for the sound.

i don't know if you could really find out if it is your bearings by lifting the accord and shaking the wheel here and there,i doubt that.my accord was having those kinda noise you people where explaining,as $420 that sound to high,i did the job all by myself with the exception of a machine shop which if you don't have a press you will need them. i bought the bearings for $61.00 each.and paid the machine shop $30.00 each for a press in/press out job-it is up to you!
to top it off-i am not even mechanically incline but i am a DIY

I actually prefer to do the work myself, but I just don't have time to do so. I check around, and 9 out of the 10 places I talked to quoted me $400-$500 for each side. Honda was the only one to charge me $420 parts and labor for both sides. I went back to those other shops and they told me I was lying .
