97 Accord Door lock issue, key takes some work to unlock
1997 Accord LX. I bought this car used recently, and it came with an original Honda key and a generic copy. I bent the Honda key, and now am using the backup.
I often have issues with unlocking the doors, especially on the driver's side. If I put the key in, it doesn't turn left or right, but then if i flip the key around, and try again, it will usually work. This morning it didnt, and I had to unlock the doors from the passenger side door.
I did a lot of searching and found that the actuator replacement fixes the buzzing sound. what about this problem? Anyone got any ideas?

for what it's worth---the original key used to have a similar problem. I more concerned about damaging the door lock cylinder....

For what it worth I have the same problem on my 97, especially when it is cold. It isn't too bad and I just live with it but if anyone has a simple solution I would love to hear it. Mine has been doing it for the 4+ years I have owned it and has not got any worse.
Edit: read my sig and searched

Yeah, i used to have the similar problem (to a lesser degree) with a different 97 accord as well.
Seems like your problem was with a frozen lock....I'm in pretty moderate weather right now in the SF Bay Area....
thoughts anyone?

I have the same problem (only can unlock from passenger side) with my 97 ex and my brother too on his 97 se. I assume it is rust or dirt, just haven't had time or desire to tear into the door to get to the lock mechanism.
I have the added problem of the passenger outside rear door handle not returning after opening the door, causing the door not to latch unless you push the handle down.
