Default 96 Accord having dying issues.

Hello All.
Wonderful forum here. Have found lots of answers and Thank You everyone who has helped me solve things!
My 96 Accord just started having a dying issue while driving. I normally drive in town and have had zero problems with it while driving local. My problem seems to rear it's head while driving after about 30 minutes. The engine will die while driving after it is warm but has always started itself while moving. It does it both while holding steady pressure on the foot feed and also when I move it. I thought Throttle position sensor, but since it restarts on its own while holding steady pressure on the foot feed, I tend to think it is elsewhere. It runs with normal power even up to 75 MPH so I am assuming fuel pressure is OK. A man I work with who was a Honda tech years ago suggested an Ignitor. I did earlier this year have an issue with contaminated fuel but a couple of bottles of Techron and a bottle of yellow bottle HEET took care of it.
What ideas might you have? I rely on this car to get me to and from a place about 45 minutes away from home twice a week.
Thank You in advance!

Mine did that a few years ago, turned out to be distributor. Actually the cam sensor(but it's sold as a unit). Any codes?

Hello
I have not pulled codes on it yet as I was out of town when this happened. I intend to do so sunday when I can get to a code reader if that is what it needs to pull codes. I've never had a bit of problems with this car ignition wise, it has always run flawlessly until now.
I've noticed this issue is most severe at low speeds. I watched the tach and gauges when it happens and the only change I can see is the tach drops about 500 rpm when it happens. It has always reignited without turning the key.
I noticed the listings for parts show several distributors. Guess I'll have to find out how to ID them if in fact the distributor is bad.
Thanks.

of course check codes-if the light is on.

make sure youre not eligible for the ignition switch recall for the 97 accords.

take a good visual look under the hood. make sure there are no vacuum leaks, holes in the intake boot, take off the distributor cap and make sure its not filled with oil, check the age of the spark plug wires while youre at it.

because its happening at cruise, it might be worth doing the egr clean out sticky do it yourself project. Mine were totally clogged. I wonder if something weird is happening when the ecu expects egr flow.

Hello All
Seems as if the problem is solved!
I scanned the codes and none were relevant. I checked the distributor and there was no oil in there. I asked our mechanic at work who had in his past been head of a Honda service department and he said it sounded to him like an igniter was failing. I replaced it and it seems to have solved the problem.
The problem I had was finding an igniter that fit right out of the box. The O'Reilly's Auto Parts here showed an Accel igniter which was supposed to fit but apparently it only fit on distributors with internal igniters. Shame as it was on sale for less than a regular one. The one I ended up buying looked very much like the factory one, however it was a bit larger and I had to modify the bracket to get it to fit. I shudder to think what a Honda igniter would have cost me as the O'Reilly's one was $51 with my discount.
Again Thank You Everyone who offered advice!
