96 Accord EX Build
Okay guys...and girls... I have posted on here a couple of times about engine swaps that I wanted to perform. Well, I decided to keep the stock engine. When I pulled the cylinder head off, there was sludge. The previous owner did not service this thing well enough obviously. Started taking the cylinder head apart, and VTEC items went flying everywhere. NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN. So I bought a reman head, installed it, torqued it to spec, and went to town. I swapped from auto to manual trans with a 96 EX manual trans. The following has been done so far: Header, 2.25" exhaust with Magnaflow muffler and resonator, 13lb flywheel, stage one clutch, f23a1 intake manifold, removed power steering. The cabin fuse box in the drivers side footwell was moved to the center of the cabin, and am trying to wrap up the wiring for that. Moved the battery to the trunk. Removed some unnecessary bracing(NOTHING FOR SAFETY!! THAT WOULD BE STUPID!!!!!). Changing ABS to standard power assist brakes.
Future plans:
get it running
change power steering rack dust boots
balance shaft removal- DONE[/COLOR]
Install the Energy Suspension bushings that I bought- In Progress
Rear sway bar upgrade
chassis bracing
New shocks and springs(prolly toasted by the jackrabbit that stole my car, and took it offroad.) THANK GOD FOR FULL COVERAGE INSURANCE.
TURBO
Tuning
Tell me what you guys think.

Re: 96 Accord EX Build
As it sits now, the car is not yet running. Did the following:
Honed the cylinders
Cleaned the block and internals
installed new bearings
installed new piston rings
hand ported the cylinder head to remove casting flash and polish the exhaust ports
deleted the balance shafts
deleted power steering
deleted abs and brake booster- Still in progress of mounting a new master cylinder
started porting my F22b1 IM(gonna run for low rpm torque, and use tb spacer/s)
mild wire tuck in progress
relocated the battery to the trunk
Still have a lot of little odds and ends to do... Tax money is what is holding me up at this point. Once that comes in.... It's on!!!
At this point, I want to get everything back together clean status. I plan to dyno the car once it is up and fully operational. Will be interesting to see what will happen with a 2.25" collector and cat, mated to a 2.5" exhaust with Dynomax mufflers.

With a stock bottom end with stock cams and ECU I foresee the car putting down pretty much what Honda printed in it's brochures back when it was new 17 years ago.
You can port and polish everything, if you don't make any changes to internals your not likely to see anything more than maybe 10-15hp over OEM specs. Now for a clean baseline for future mods this is a great start.

A nice cam will also show a nice improvement. Bisimoto cams are popular for our F series motors. Although I would suggest leaving the factory intake, they make better power.

Re: 96 Accord EX Build
I was actually thinking of getting a Bisi cam after all is said and done. Yeah, I have the stock intake with the resonator box(the big one in the wheelwell) removed, and a spectre filter. Soon to be a AEM dryflow.

Re: 96 Accord EX Build
Soooo.... I have some updates for everybody. Header came today. Got the passenger side brake line in, and am working on polishing my IM. I never had any intentions on polishing my IM, it just seemed like an interesting project to take on. Attachment 312521 there is still a ton of work to do on the manifold.

Re: 96 Accord EX Build
No worries, I am uploading the correct way right now. Okay guys and girls, here are some pictures from my build. Yes, I am doing my build in a one car garage. Just goes to show that you can work without a large space.
Yes the wiring is in there. I tucked it(still in process of cleaning up behind the manifold).
Mocking up the front end with my black housing headlights, and amber crystal corner lamps.
I will be posting more pictures. But, I thought you guys could use the visual reference that this build is for real. The ebay header that is on there is not being used. A pacesetter header will be going on, and be getting a 2.25" collector before high temp paint. Yes, I know that the brake master cylinder is not in there as of yet. However, that will be another surprise for everybody. Battery is relocated to the trunk. The mock up photo of the engine bay is pretty dang close to how the bay will look after everything is back together. All emissions equipment is retained, and mounted behind the IM.

Re: 96 Accord EX Build
Alright guys and gals. It has been a loooonnng time since I have posted much on here. Alot of progress has been made, and I am relishing the thought of this beast running soon. Tax money took a different turn, in the form of a vacation in Hawaii.. Soooo, I rally cant complain. Here are some updates on what has been done.
Remanufactured head installed for smogging the car.
Cleaning up the engine wiring more, hit some snags a while back.
Putting the a/c unit back in
KS balance shaft kit is in(I had already blocked off the ports required to run this a while back. The actual block hardware is going into the motor I will be swapping in.)
Carpet has been taken out, and is being cleaned.
Much much more.

Re: 96 Accord EX Build
***UPDATES***
Well, got it running almost two years ago. Had a so called friend helping out on some stuff, and he toasted my engine and clutch. Instead of giving in and giving up, I decided to do things right. Engine bay is almost completely bare metal, and the shave will begin. Got a new (great condition JY block). Also got some new parts.

Stripping the bay for a nice shave.
I'll post more pics for sure. Gonna see what money I have put together, and get the rest going for my chipped ECM.
