Default 94-97 Accord EX differences

I just wanted to find some of the differences between the 94-97 Ex models. I will be purchasing a 94-97 in the near future and want to get my facts straight before the purchase. I checked the faq section, there was a post that said they were going to list the differences but never did...

Right now I have a 90 Accord Ex with 270k and love it. But I always like the 94-97's. If its a body difference can someone post a pic please?

Thanks,

Jim

94/95 Have a different styled front bumper and my personal fav the 7 spoke alloys

Other than that haha they're very similar

both have f22b1
both have power accessories
color choices were different obviously
etc..

the only real advantage to a 94/95 is they were OBDI rather than the later 96/97 OBDII.

94-95 Accord EX:
-ODBI
-7 Spoke Alloy rims
-2 taillights (1 on each side)

96-97 Accord EX:
-ODBII
-5 Spoke rim but I'm not 100%, but deffinately not the 7 spoke like the 94-95
-4 taillights (2 on each side (1 on the truck lid, 1 in the quarter panel)

other differences that are hard to describe:
-different grills
-different front bumpers
-different front bumper lips
-different rear bumpers
-different rar bumper lips

Thats all I can think of right now

Heres a couple pictures of the front and back of stock Accord EX's. A look through the Accord Picture Thread and you should be able to find more pictures to compare with.

94-95 Accord EX

96-97 Accord EX

96-97 Accord LX or DX (just to show taillights, rear bumper and lip)

One of the differences between a 94 and a 97 EX, would be the cup holders. 94's open towards the passenger, when a 97 one opens toward the driver.

really? now would the 97 EX cup holder fit in the 94 EX location or visa-versa?

I think the EX models have VTEC while the LX and DX doesn't have any. I have a 96 EX Coupe(F22B1). And LX is F22B2( I'm pretty sure)

yes...

94-97 EX = F22B1 (SOHC VTEC)
94-97 LX & DX = F22B2 (SOHC non-VTEC)

One advantage that the 96-97 has is the radio antenna. Instead of having the stupid motorized antenna it has it built into the back windshield.

are you talking directly above the rear-view mirror or just a dome light in general? cause my 95 EX had a interior dome light just behind the moonroof opening, not directly above the rear view mirror like maplights but still an interior light.

ah, ok. Thanks

well, I guess if one wanted to switch to the 96-97 style cup holder, they could always just swap out the armrest console.

I don't think any 94-97 Accord came with Black interior.

I know the black exterior came with grey interior. I think the light blue (don't know exact paint name) exterior came with grey interior.

I'm pretty sure the white and green exteriors came with tan interiors.

I'm not sure about what interior comes with the red exterior.

I believe red exterior comes with grey interior, i seen some forest green exterior that comes in grey interior, dark blue exterior comes in grey interior.. i guess the dealer has the interior color as an optional choice for EX models.

correct me if i'm wrong

I saw a dark color accord yesterday on the way home from work. Can anyone list the factory colors available? It was very dark, almost a dark dark gray color. Not black....

Fifth-generation Honda Accord wagonIn 1994, the fifth generation Accord was released based on the "CD" chassis. With styling cues again borrowed from the Honda Prelude as in 1986, the Accord gained overall size and was now classified as a "mid-size" automobile. It was also a break from the previous generation's boxy, rectangular shape. The Accord became Car and Driver Import Car of the Year in 1994. Trim lines were back to DX, LX and EX while Canada retained the EX-R. The DX and LX received a slightly more powerful 2.2 liter 130 HP engine while the 145 HP VTEC was standard on EX models. The 4-speed automatic transmission remained an $800 option on all trims but now included a "Grade-Logic" shift program. The wagon was included in the lineup for 1994. A more streamlined rear facia and lights gave it a sportier look. The wagon was available in LX or EX trim only. All Accord models received a more ergonomic interior with standard safety features such as dual airbags and reinforced side-impact beams. The EX gained standard ABS (now an option for the LX.) Leather seating was offered on the EX as a factory option. Dealer accessories include: Fog lights, gold-finish kit, gold finish grille, cornering lamps, CD player, CD changer, security system, trunk wing spoiler, car cover, full nose mask, half-nose mask, and sunroof visor. In Australia, the fifth generation Accord proved an instant success. It set a new sales record in 1994, with 6,446 sales, or a 1% share of the Australian new vehicle market. This figure would remain unsurpassed until 2004. This generation was also the first where Honda produced the Accord in its Swindon plant in the UK for European markets. This European Accord was based on the JDM Honda Ascot Innova, which in turn was based on the fourth-generation Accord. Europe is a market where Honda did not conquer, as Japanese cars then were deemed plain and characterless. This marketing strategy sowed the seeds for future Accords, as Honda tried to accommodate customer requirements of different markets.
In 1995, the Accord debuted a V6 engine, the 2.7 L C27 from the Acura Legend in the U.S. market to compete with other V6-powered mid-size cars such as the Ford Taurus, Mazda 626, and Toyota Camry. The V6 was offered in the LX and EX versions of the sedan. Both versions of the V6 received dual exhaust, a 4-speed automatic transmission, 15" wheels and a slightly updated front grille. The Accord saw very little other changes in 1995 with the exception of a few different exterior/interior color combinations.
Some versions sold in New Zealand had a 2.4-litre 4-cylinder. The 2.7 V6 was offered in EX trim only.

In 1996, the Accord underwent the usual mid-generation facelift. Rounder bumpers, a slightly modified front facia, and rear taillights give the Accord a softer look. All Hondas now complied with the Federal Government's requirement of OBD II engine diagnostics though all three engine choices remained the same. In order to increase the Accord's competitiveness against its rivals in different international markets, Honda CEO Nobuhiko Kawamoto decided on one basic platform for the sixth-generation Accord, but with different bodies and proportions for local markets.
In 1997, Honda releases the "Special Edition" version of the Accord (not to be confused with the SE). It was offered in two colors: Heather Mist Metallic and Dark Currant Pearl. The Special Edition received a factory installed security system with keyless entry, single-disc CD player, body colored side molding, distinctive alloy wheels and a sunroof. It was only offered in an automatic and was fitted with the same engine as the LX.
