91 accord wont hold an idle, just stalls and die
ok wel my accord has a code 14 I kno its the IACValve and when u start it, it wont hold an idle unless u step on the gas pedal at a steady pace and rev it up to like 2k-3k. can it be the IACV thats causing this?? Motor was running fine but then it started to have problem and now it doesnt want to idle and has a code 14. any thoughts??

your iacv is easy to clean. it takes about 10 minutes and can potentially greatly improve how your car runs. it is located on the throttle body on the front of it and has 2 vacuum hoses coming out of it on the right and one on the left. i think 2 10mm or 12mm bolts you need to remove. once you remove it i would take carb cleaner or something similiar and spray the iacv until the liquid runs out clean. the side with the screen will probably be black from carbon build up. make sure you replace the rubber seal if its bad. mine was still fine so i just reused it.
if that for some reason does not fix your idle i would check the fitv. the fast idle thermo valve is close to the iacv and also helps control idle.
there are other things that could cause it to not hold your idle. these are the 2 easiest to check and clean. instead of buying new parts. if for some reason this does not fix your problem PM me i can try to help.
