91 Accord f22a1 warm start issue
Hey guys. I have done some searching and cannot find anything on the problem I am having now. It is a warm start issue. Not cold start, warm start (everyone always asks "You mean cold?" and I say "NO!"). And not just any ordinary startup issue. When the engine is cold, it starts up fine. If I let it warm up and just sit there, shut it off and attempt to start up a minute later? Fine. Let it run idle for 15 minutes, shut it off and start it back up a minute later? Fine. Let it warm up and actually drive it maybe for a minute (for maybe .2 miles just around my neighborhood), shut it off and start it up a minute later? Cranks but no start I have to wait about 2 hours for the motor to cool back down and then it starts up fine.
I have recently replaced the head and head gasket (and all other gaskets from the head up) and followed the specs in the manual because the head got warped and was dumping coolant into the cylinders. The block is the original block and has 250,106 miles on it. I replaced the main relay and fuel pump about 8-9 months ago. Battery is brand new. Have not checked the starter or alternator yet but I dont think that would cause this.
So far everyone I have asked about this has been stumped. My boss is a huge car fanatic (custom built an EVO IX from the ground up.. twice) and he says he hasnt heard of this kind of an issue. I wanted to see what you guys think? If you have ever experienced this at all and how you solved it. My engine bay looks really sweet but if the car wont start then its work down the drain. HELP!
Any questions just let me know. I plan on taking it to a couple shops when I get back home this week.
(Pictures are from right after the head and head gasket change before we found the startup issue.. Car runs really strong when it starts up but thats WHEN it starts up)
