91 Accord Ex cutting off when its hot outside???
I am about to pick up a 91 EX 5 speed CB7 on Wednesday for $300 and theres really only one issue I'm concerned with before buying the car. The car shuts off when the weather is hot outside (70-80+ degrees). I am familiar with Honda's "Main Relay" issue and I'm thinking this maybe the problem since it only happens when its hot outside, but I was wondering if this could be any other problem??? I was planning to just go get a main relay from a CB7 at the junkyard and replace it but I want to find out if this is really the problem before I go wasting money to replace something thats fine (although I'm sure it wouldnt hurt to replace the main relay anyways) Any suggestions or advice??? Also is there a "quick fix" for the fuel leak problem that most CB7's have under the driver side wheel well? This CB7 has that issue but I'm hoping to find a quick fix for it instead of having to replace the whole line. Any advice for this as well?

So if i just get a new coil i should be okay? I planned on doing a tune-up (Wires, Plugs, Dizzy) as soon as I get the car along with seafoam, a tranny flush and a oil change (after the seafoam) Anything else you guys would recommend I do to make this car "fresh" again? It has 248000 and I'm hoping to make it last at least until mid summer when I plan to swap the H22 in it

I would not say the coil is faulty without performing diagnostics. However, I have seen coils fail with a symptom the same as yours.

It's best to just make sure, take the main relay out and open the relay. Check the PCB inside the relay for solder dry joint. you must use magnify glass to actually see any hairline crack in the solder. If you see any hairline crack, then just resolder it. The main relay should work fine. I fixed mine some years ago and still working very nicely. In the hot weather the crack widens and as a result it cuts out.

when I pick the car up tomorrow I'll be able to get a closer look at everything then ill be able to determine what the problem actually is. I just wanted a couple ideas of what it could be so I wouldnt be stuck after looking at the main relay. Thanks alot guys!!! I'll probably be posting an update tomorrow afterwards but its supposed to rain so I'm not too sure if I feel like working in the rain
