90-93 Shift cable on 94-97 issues
Not sure if this is the spot to post this or if its even been talked about but just thought I would give people a heads up. Some people say the shift cables of a accord 90-93 are the same and fit the 94-97. This is not totally true. The set come with 2 cables for those who dont know. The shift cable itself fits but it does re-position the shift stick about an inch and a half back from its original position, meaning you will have it closer to you than normal. The select cable does not work at all. If you were to use this cable it moves the shift stick nearly completely to the passenger side of the car and you are not able to shift because of the center concsole. If you plan on using a combination of the 90-93 shift cable with a 94-97 select cable it can be done by slicing the boot holding the 2 cables together and then using the same boot with some RTV gasket or cement glue. This worked wonders. Although it feels weird for me to shift this much closer to me, it does bring the shifter closer to me and gives me better throw freedom and speeds.

i think you did something wrong......
i used a 92 accord shifter selector and cables on my 95 accord 5 speed swap.
worked perfectly.

no i thought so too but I had the entire cart meet check it out they all saw and experienced the same thing. when you use the 91 select cable it is approx. 1inch longer than the 95 accord select cable which pushes the stick too far right. even after adjusting the head of the cable.

first off I used my select cable and routed it the same way and it worked so I dont know . But you know what your right, I did mess up. I apologize for wasting your time with the information. We all over here need to sit down and rethink what we are doing. Next time I wont spend four hours trying to figure out whats going on and just listen to you. At the same time I dont even know why I came on here and wasted everyone else time letting them know what I did WRONG..... I AM SO SORRY GUY......

holy ****. ****ing ethugging over here. i wasnt trying to shoot you down in a bad way. i was saying hey, i did this and it worked and trying to maybe see if there was a reason why yours didnt.
no hard feelings man. sorry if i came off that way. wasn't trying to.
i actually spent some time looking it up, like to make sure it wasn't going to F my car up in some way. And I did run across something. If you use a 94-97 shift and base with the 90-93 cables it will not work correctly. Now I used the 90-93 shifter, base, and cables, as I previously mentioned. Did you? This is definitely good information. Can you take a picture of yours going to the 'right' like you said?

Re: 90-93 Shift cable on 94-97 issues
Unfortunately and fortunately I cannot take the picture. Right now it is using the 95 shift base with 91 shift cable and 95 select cable. If I wouldve left the 91 select cable I wouldnt be able to drive it at the moment. I can however take a picture of this setup to show the repositioning of the shifter as the 91 shift cable moves the shifter back about an inch and a half. No hard feelings, just some people get to me when they constantly question me like I am an idiot and dont know what I am doing. I am no honda expert/creator but I know quite a lot to survive and help others.

oh i am not questioning it, just asking questions to make it as thorough as possible, because some of those questions were issues I ran into. And it seems that in order for it to work, you need to use the same generation shifter base. it sits the cable back enough for it to work.
