I have problem with alarm on the Accord. The alarm won't trigger, even though the doors, trunk and "panic" buttons on the Fob work well. The interior light also goes out. I checked all the door switches for proper operation. There is some difference in operation on the driver’s side. It used to be that the dome light would illuminate and stay on until the ignition was started, then it would go out. Likewise when exiting the car it would come on and then go out after a time delay. It doesn’t do that. It comes on when the door is unlocked, but when it is opened, it seems to start its dimming cycle and slowly goes out. Conversely, when exiting, the courtesy lights in the door come on, but the dome light does not. Something has changed. I, of course, checked the dome light switch position, it is set to door.



I did a visual on the hood latch. The switch is underneath and difficult to get to. I will need some more time to check this one with a meter.



I think the overriding symptom is that the alarm will not arm. I like the thought that something is “open” somewhere, preventing it from arming. This is similar behavior to when you leave the door or the trunk open and try to arm the alarm. The locks will set, but no horn or security light.

Update:

1. Checked dome light switch, it is in the proper position.

2. Horn works (panic button works too)

3. Security light not coming on (head and tail lights do not blink, no horn)



Will do the “window down” test (did this by accident in the distant past and the alarm went off) will try again, but I don’t think the alarm is setting. We’ll see.



Will also check the relays, have not looked at them yet and still need to check the hood switch.
