2001 Accord EX V6 auto Transmission slipping ?s
I've now been to 4 transmission shops re: my 2001 accord's slipping tranny & gotten 4 different opinions as to what it will take to repair. 1. says it's a rebuild and won't know until he gets in there whether it's $1K or $??, 2. The Honda dealer says that it absolutely has to have a new transmission...big surprise there huh. 3. says, yep it's going to need a rebuild and it's a min. of $2K, 4. today I take it to another transmission repair shop and he says he thinks the first place to start is the main tranny computer. He's the first one that has suggested that could be the problem. Now this guy's got me wondering if a bad computer/solenoid/etc. could be all's that wrong. I doubt it, but w/o someone that knows their stuff does a thorough electrical diagnosis to confirm it, I may be buying a rebuild AND new electronic parts. I'm so confused. How difficult is it to confirm whether or not it's electrical vs. mechanical? Are they mutually exclusive of one another? I'm exhausted trying to find a reputable repair shop that I trust. Help??
