2001 Accord ex timing belt/balance shaft belt
I just wanted to know if anyone had a link to a diy site where it shows how to re-install the timing belt/balanceshaft belt properly. I have tried to put the belts back on about 5 times using the helms manual but I could tell every time i shoot the pulley bolt back on, the balance shaft timing goes off as i could feel major vibration in the cabin. Ive done the following: set timing belt at tdc, then i put the 6*100 bolt in the service rear balance shaft hole. i then lined the front balance shaft to the mark on the block and reinstall belt. Is there anything im missing?? thanks.

There's three possitions the 6x100 bolt will go in. The easiest way to line it up right is to spin it by hand to where it moves into possition by itself and the service bolt is very close to lining up. Play with it, you'll see.

im going to tear the car down once again. Just want to double check see if i am missing anything.
- I need to align the pointer on the crankshaft pulley to the mark on the block.
- I need to have camshaft sprocket mark facing the 9'o clock position, so it faces the surface of head.
- I then put timing belt on.
- Align front balance shaft mark to mark on the block (facing 12' o clock)
- Align rear shaft by inserting a 6*100 allen wrench.
- Crankshaft pulley should still be at tdc, so i then place belt on.
- tighten down tensioner bolt and tighten crankshaft bolt.
Let me know if i missed something. thanks

This link shows how the rear balance shaft pulley should be aligned; Sticking the pin thru the shaft you could be 180* out. it should have a 'natural' fall or turn to the correct position. There is a dot on the pulley that lines up with a casting boss.
