2000 Honda accord ex suspension help!Knocking when going over bumps
I have a 2000 honda accord ex 5spd 4dr. I hear a knocking in the front left and it also feels like looseness when going over bumps. I replaced the upper and lower ball joint plus tie rod and sway bar link. It still continues dont know what to do next yet. Also I have a vibration in the rear all tires have been rebalanced. The car was sittin for a bit.. Help would be appreciated!

I had a knocking noise that was similar.. In my case turns out it was a combination of the lower control arm bushings and the spring seat...

I had the same issue. Changins shocks did not fix the problem. I had to do it anyway but the noise did not go away.
It was because of worn out sway bar bushings. Front and rear- easy and cheap to fix.

My question with the sway bushings, I wanted to switch to energy suspension, but I have no idea what is the right size, eg. rear 15mm or 14mm, front 25mm or 22mm..
According to all the fitment guides, both supposedly "fit" so which one is the correct one? I mean, I could measure my current bushings but who knows what the ravages of time did to them and if the method of measuring would be standardized from honda parts to energy suspension...

It can be sway bar end link causing the noise or the inner tie-rod can be bad/loose.

i replaced the sway bar links and the tie rods still has the noise. It seems like something is loose. shock seems tight when pushing down on the car and spring isnt broken

Get under there, pull & tug on things. If somethings loose, replace. Visually inspect for any worn areas, such as an area where two components can be hitting each other, causing the 'knocking.' Tighten down your strut/shock mount nuts up top just to be sure.

Park car on level ground, set parking brake. Jack the car up so the tire is off the ground use jack stands, and with the tire still on the car try and pick it up if you can easily lift the tire w/ little to no resistance then the shock/strut is bad.

once again, the tophat or spring seat is what caused my knocking.. Changed that to polyurethane and the problem was solved..
Personally just buy the energy suspension or prothane entire kit and change ALL the bushings, you will definitely cure it by doing so..

Re: 2000 Honda accord ex suspension help!Knocking when going over bumps
Did you find a solution to the noise you were hearing?
Not looking to hijack this thread, but I am experiencing the exact same noise with my 2000 Accord EX Coupe. I know the exact noise Hondapreludeg is describing. The knocking noise would make you think the suspension has come loose from the chasis mounting points, but it hasn't. I've gotten some good ideas form this thread, but it's driving me crazy that I can't pin this down.
Locality of the noise is hard. It honestly sounds like the noise could be generated by whatever wheel is hitting the uneven surface, shallow potholes, bumps, etc. This made me think it was my sway bar bushings, but both front and rear? I did not replace the sway bushings yet. Visually they do not appear like the rubber has been flattened much in their brackets.
On jackstands, all four wheels are solid: there is no up and down or side to side play in each wheel. I did notice the bump-stops are blown on both front shocks. There was a thread I found on Honda-Tech that pointed to a TSB for popping noises while turning at slow speeds. My noise presents itself regardless of turning or driving straight. Ball joint boots are not torn. The rubber bushing in the lower control arm, the one the bottom of the shock mounts to, shows some signs of creasing in a half-moon semicircle on the lower half of the bushing. I am avoiding separating the lower control arm and pressing in a new bushing if I could. I would do it in a heartbeat if I knew it would solve the issue.
Nicolaselias, does the tophat bushing you are referring sit on top of the spring between the shock tower and the strut itself? I've thought about replacing the shocks on the front for some time just to get a better ride.

[QUOTE=Hondapreludeg;44555710] so hopefully this helps I had a car I went to look at which was a 00 accord upon inspection I replaced the cv axel which was making all the issues as the post here so I noticed that the cv axel shaft is really long and had no axel support mount for some reason so there’s a lot of play when it gos bad and starts to flop and make all sorts of noise and issues pull cv out of trans and see if there is grinding where it gos in trans also see if there is alot of play I bet that’s your issues was for me
