Default 2000 accord LX running hot question

Hey all,
New here but not new to honda's at all. Here is a question for you that I cannot figure out. Couple months ago, timing belt snapped and......Well you know, so I just bought a used complete engine and replaced everything on it, all belts, water pump, thermostat, etc. So here we are now and the car is running pretty hot but the temp gauge is not moving out of the range it is supposed to be on the cluster. At normal operating temp, you can barely hold the upper radiator hose for a quick second cause it is so hot. Then lower is hot but not as hot. Spark plugs were white from running hot, which leads me to believe that the thermostat is stuck open? Anything else that it can be?

Yeah I think it's the T-stat. I didn't buy a t-stat from honda so I am going there tomorrow and will throw the new one in. Thanks

How many miles on the Accord when the belt snapped?

Just trying to get an idea of how durable those things are, my '99 LX has right at 100,000 miles on it.

I was pushing the limits at 135,000. The belt literally shred to pieces. Honda says to replace it at 105,000. Just make sure you also do water pump, thermostat, and possibly new belts while your there. GL

Have you checked for air trapped in the cooling system?
Do both fans run?

Did you replace the t-stat? And if so what was the result?

maybe your car is running too lean which makes the car run hot tryin to save gas makes the motor hotter so maybe check your fuel pump and the fuel filter

Sorry been very busy. I did not change the stat out yet, prob this weekend and I thought about the engine running lean (air/fuel gauge would be sweet) and will check the fuel pump since that is also very accessable also. Thanks for the help and will update soon.
