1999 Accord ex not starting
Ok let me give some quick details of what Ive changed and done so far.
My accord quit starting few mos ago and I ended up putting in a new alternator, it fixed the problem quick and once I put in a new battery it ran like a champ. So fast forward few months later, I tried starting the car and it.just had a clicking sound. My honda profile said the ignition switch was already fixed in recall so I went and bought a starter, replaced the old one and it would crank the motor but the car still wouldn't start.. So I went through a lot of honda forums and youtube vids and they gave a million possibilities of what could be wrong and how to test it(main relay, got a new one and switched it) (,spark plugs - got new plugs, no change) (distributor & coil - replaced with new parts) and as mentioned earlier the starter. Also I know someone will ask why didn't you take it to get diagnosed? Did that as well at firestone the first day it wouldn't start, they claimed everything was great, it started once, drove it home and bam car wasn't starting again. Which was basically 100$ down the drain since firestone claimed they can do the same.diagnostic it won't change the code and i'd still have to tow it there/ back.
So that's my problem, I need some opinions cause i'm running out of options and I really need my car running for work, babies drs etc.
When I turn key it just sounds like the engine is trying to turn over but won't take that final jump. Car definitely has spark.

The igition recall was done years ago at a honda dealership, the car was running without problem up until it recently wouldn't start. I do hear the fuel pump go on when I turn the key, and the car hasn't start up with the new starter it sounds like its about to but never turns over completely, before I replaced the starter it would just make a clicking sound.

are you sure your getting fuel ? If you say you definitely have spark.
Great Fuel pump is working but is the fuel getting to the injectors or Fuel filter?

Fuel pressure gauge, or if you're just "curious" pull the hose leading to the fuel rail. Thing is a multitutde of things can be happening.
So is it not cranking right now or is it cranking and no start?

Yeah I know diamond star but at the end of the day every engine needs the same thing to start. Fuel spark and compression.

Here's a vid of my accord trying to start, gonna go out and try checking the fuel and mess around w it a bit.

Can you hear the humming of the fuel pump?
It is kind of hard to hear because its in the trunk so suggest putting seat down or getting someones help to listen in trunk

Check your plugs see if they're wet. Do some things from that link, just start narrowing things to make it easier to find the problem.

Re: 1999 Accord ex not starting
okay sounds like u have been throwing parts at the car,how are you checking for spark?get some carb cleaner and put it in the tb if it starts the fuel pump the relay or injectors are the first thing to look at.If you have access to a scanner check the codes.one guy said check the new plugs for fuel ie no spark.firestone sucks need to find out if spark fuel or timing is off.also check the timing belt cover see if its popped.seen alot of the times when people would throw 500 in parts to have a broke timing belt

I had an 89 prelude very similar. atsome point in time someone had a major fuel system problem and a ton of dirt got through the system. There are little fuel filters on the top of each injector that were plugged solid. I had to take the injectors out to find them. May be similar but who knows may help. Also replace the fuel filter.

Well its the weekend so I finally have some time to work on the car a bit
@faded: the plugs weren't wet
@hondaman: I used a spare spark plug and tested the spark when I turned the key, it had spark
@jdmcertified: it has 100k miles, the timing belt looks fine
If oreillys is open i'll run down there today and get something to check the compression on the car. I'll take a look at the filters as well and try some starting fluid.

So we got spark. Still no confirmation on fuel that should be next before internal but I wrote something up anyway.
Get a vaccum gauge or have a scan tool to check the vaccum on the car the reading should be in and around 19 + or - 1. If that reading fluctuates heavily well know its internal ie; valve spring ,burnt valve ,rings
Here's an articles. http://www.international-auto.com/fi...uum-gauges.cfm

Re: 1999 Accord ex not starting
So I pulled the main fuel line to see if it has fuel, and did the fuel injector test to see if fuel by turning the key and seeing how much fuel came out, there wasnt a lot but it definitely was coming out. Im guessing that means it has low compression or the fuel pump needs replacement? I haven't had a chance to check compression or the fuel filters but will do it this week when I get a bit of time. I might as well change the timing belt too before trouble shooting. Thanks for all of your guys help, I appreciate it, when I do the compression test i'll post results on forums.

I don't tell people often but try the Carb spray in the intake first. Still no start? OK its not fuel. Take number one plug out and put a screwdriver in it and hold the screwdriver close to metal. U see spark? That's not the problem. Next confirm the firing order is correct (I think its wrong). Is the rotor button new? Don't throw money at problems. First troubleshoot them.

Any codes on it? I mean one of these things will show. Your o2 will be a dead giveaway.
One thing I can't get over is the alternator part. Like this makes it sound like it full fielded itself to the point of burnout due to a bad driver side for the PCM or ground.
