Default 1998 Accord check engine light help

I have a '98 Accord with a 3.0L, and had a local shop scan check engine light codes. The codes it's throwing is EGR flow insufficient and not getting any vacuum in lines, told possibly it could be a canister shutoff valve? I took off EGR valve and cleaned carbon residue out of main port, and its still showing the flow insufficient code. Anyone else experience this problem, or have any troubleshooting ideas?

did you clear the ecu of the codes after you cleaned the valve?

never worked on a v6 before but im assuming its basically the same. there should be a vacuum hose going to the egr valve. with the engine running unhook the hose and place your finger over it. if you have vacuum at the hose at idle you have a bad egr solenoid, constant vacuum control, ecu, or a wiring issue

if there is no vacuum at idle rev the engine while your finger is over the end of the removed vacuum line. if you get vacuum while revving but not at idle your problem is a faulty/sticking egr valve or clogged egr ports.

to check and see if the ports are dirty lift up on the diaphram of the egr valve at idle. if there is no change to the idle then you have clogged egr ports. lifting up on the egr valve at idle should cause a very rough idle and/or turn the engine off.

obviously check the electrical connector for the egr valve also

make sure to reset the ecu after any repairs are made or the codes will stay there

Yes, the faults were cleared after cleaning. I dont see a vacuum line going directly to the egr valve, but what looks to be vacuum lines in the vacinity of it..intake, throttle body, etc. Electrical connector appears to egr appears to be fine, dont see any pinched or frayed wires.

As stated, you need to check the egr ports as well.
