1998 and 2003 Accord V6 timing belt change
Hi HT members,
I have 2 friends asking me to replace their timing belt on their 1998 and 2003 Accord V6s.
I've never worked on the 3.0 Accord engine before and I just wanted to know how similar it would be to changing a t-belt on a 2002 3.5 litre v6 Honda Odeyssey minivan?
Seems fairly straightforward to me but I just wanted to make sure that I am not taking on a job that I might not be able to properly finish.
Couple things worth noting:
1. I do have the factory honda crank pulley holder tool that has so far worked on every Honda with a hex cutout in the crank pulley.
2. I have a Honda tensioner shaft holder pin
3. I have a vise (to compress the tensioner)
4. I have plenty of experience working on Honda 4cyl engines (I think I've done about 50 t-belts now...)
5. I do have a spare threaded battery bracket hold shaft/hook/holder/whatever its called to screw into the tension pulley to hold it up for the installation of the new t-belt.
Based on my memory of the v6 odyssey engine I'm assuming that its very similar if not identical replacement procedures.
Am I correct in my thinking so far?
Thanks

Re: 1998 and 2003 Accord V6 timing belt change
there may be some minor differences between a t-belt job on an Odeyssey and one on an accord V6 mostly related to the differences in the two chassis, but if you've done one you can do the other.
