1997 Acura CL
I'm looking to do a engine swap on my 1997 Acura CL. Currently has the 2.2 F Series. I know the J30 will fit because they made the 3.0 CLs in 1997. I was mostly interested in putting the J32. But will the J32 fit in the 1997 Acura CL?

Re: 1997 Acura CL
First you'll need to look into whether or not the 3.0 CL had a slightly longer front end than the 2.2/2.3 CL. That CL was based off the same chassis as the 94-97 Accord, and the V6 Accords had slightly longer front ends than the I4 Accords. I don't know enough about that particular year range CL to tell you yes or no.
Otherwise, the J30 and J32 are really the same dimensions.

Re: 1997 Acura CL
The j32 will fit and bolt up to the j30 tranny, (assuming you have the 3.0 CL) but that tranny sucks so I wouldn't really bother, also you could put the j32 auto tranny on the j32 (obviously) But that tranny is known to be **** also.
Or! You could use the j32 6 speed tranny, which is hard to find, and you'd have to convert to manual, and the wiring from what i've heard is a massive pain in the ***.
If you have a 2.2-2.3 Cl with a 5 speed, it would be easier to put in the 6 speed tranny but harder to fit the motor, you would need a different subframe installed for it to bolt in properly.
Either way it is a lot of money.

PS
If you are still interested in the swap, I recommend going to cl.acurazine.com/forums/ and speaking to a member named Cocoa. He swapped the 6 speed into his 3.0 CL and it is a complete animal. Really nice guy too.
Good luck & Happy spending.
