1995 Accord f22 balance shaft seal
So I'm replacing the seals on this car and wanted to make sure they look properly seated before I get everything back together... Pretty suspicious about the balance shaft seal since the camshaft seal fit in there real nicely. Considering there is a retainer recall, i figured someone on here might know something.
Don't remind me how dirty it is lol
Really not trying to remove the whole oil pump to get it seated flush with the motor -_-
EDIT: New pictures added after taking the retainer off, easier to see the seal. Really hard to get it in any further

so I got it in further but I'm afraid it might be too far? Will that potentially cause problems or is it normal to get it a little passed where the old one was.. Maybe there is something behind the seal that will prevent it from sinking too far I'm not sure never seen inside one of these.

it might seal but it would be better to redo it. you need to tap something that covers the outside of the seal and the oil pump so that it bottoms out flush with the oil pump housing, i'm guessing you were tapping the seal directly. you just go in a circular direction and go slow

I would redo that seal just to be safe. I usually tap the seals LIGHTLY with a 1/2 extension and rubber mallet. Always works for me.

Re: 1995 Accord f22 balance shaft seal
Thanks everyone, I ended up pulling the seal out and buying a new one (you can't get this seal out without destroying it I bent every one of my hook tools on it!!!!)
I was able to get the seal further in by using a small pvc pipe and a 1/2" breaker bar. This makes it a billion times easier since the mallet extension method only got the seal 3/4 the way in, plus no one wants to take the whole oil pump out for such a small thing...
Anyways thanks again guys—I'm glad I didn't put everything back together without asking!!!
