Default 1993 accord ex-Steering wheel shake at high speed

For speed above 60-65mph, the steering whell seem to shake a lot. What could be the reason? I did balancing of tires. Timing belt service done a month ago.

What could be the reason? One tech guy told me that it can be worn axle inner joint or something. Might need to replace both axle. i have no clue. There is no noise from turning due cv etc.

Can anyone kind help?

Does bearings get bad if you change brake? What did you change ? brake pad?

my mechanic chanegd the rotors the quick way by separating the hub and its been getting worse over a few months. cause everything feels solid and theres no play anyware. changing just the pads won't wreck the bearings

I have the same problem on my 1993 SE. The only thing I have not replaced are the inner tie rods, and the wheel bearings, so its either one of those two things.

As I posted in my first post, someone told me that it could be worn axle inner joint or something. I am not very good at this mechanic thing. is it same as Cv joint or shaft?

Buying axle must be expensive. any ideas?

I had my brake rotor resurfaced and brake pad replaced lately. Could that be the source of problem if the problem is indeed in bearings?

Sorry, i am kind of lost here. Mechanics are expensive. If I take anywhere, they don;t spend time to diagnose but just want to change things. i f I tell them this is the problem, they will say, ok go change axle. then I will see problem is not fixed and only money is gone. Later something else will comeup. In my town I am kind of fed up with mechanic shops.

One more thing I must clarify is that by steering shake I meant that its kind of rocks left-right. Its not inward outward vibration thing.

Tires can be out of round or have belts separated and balancing will have no effect on them because the tire balancer can't reproduce the force and load under use. Move your fronts tires to the rear and see if the shake moves to the seat of your pants instead of the steering wheel.

i have a 1995 accord and the sterring wheel shakes at speed of 65 and on, and also while getting of a ramp when slowing down. like a month ago a got new tires(including balance) on stock rims. the next day i took the car to get the entire service= alingment, brakes and pads check. when i got it back it stop shaking until now a month later.

i think it could be the axles that are wearing out. can anyone help?

Can anyone know what is axle inner joint ? Is it same as cv joint? One mechanic told me inner axxles are worn out and that causing problem. Now, honda dealer gave me quote of $406 for replacing two axle. But can I get cheaper with Advanced auto parts or autozone ? I know they sell cv joint. I am not sure if they sell axle, specially what is inner axle?

There is no inner axle. There is the inner tie rod, which might be your problem, and I am 80% positive it isd the problem on my 1993 Accord SE with 200K miles. What I have replaced in the last 2 years.

Front Rotors / Pads / Calipers
Rear Rotors / Pads / Calipers
Master Cylinder
Front Tranny Mount "Strut Mount"
Both Front Axles
4 new tires
Both Upper Control Arms
Both Tie Rods Ends
Both Ball Joints
Sway Bar Endlinks - Bushings
Alignment

Only thing that is left is wheel bearings and inner tie rods

The car does not make the notrious howl of the wheel bearings. Yet, the inner tie rods do not seem loose, yet I know they have 200K on them. I do not want to replace them as they will be a HUGE PITA

But that is probably your problem.

How much are those tie rods?
But why the mechanic told that my axle worn out on the inner end ?

If your rotors are worped then they will also do the same thing, If your steering wheel shacks when you alsop hi the brake then its your rotors, if not then more then lickely its going to be your inner tir rod and if thats it then your going to need an alignment after aswell

have you went to got get your tires balanced and aligned? That plays a great deal on your steering wheels shaking. Does it pull to one side when you drive?

can the tie rod be the reason for this, because i already try everything else. if so, how much would it cost???

im also going to need another alingment?
