Default 1990 Accord will not start/ Where to go next?

Hi there, I have a 1990 Accord and it wont start. I had to replace the battery about a month ago. Then the yesterday I was running errands came out of a store and the car would not start.

I put the key in, turn it and I get no noise, no click, no starter trying to turn etc. My interior and exterior ligths burn bright and all that. I tried to jump start it and still got nothing.

I am unemployed and going to need to do the work myself, but Im just not sure what to check next. I am thinking starter. Can someone maybe give me a flow of what to check next? I can start pulling parts like the starter or alternator and take them to Orielys and let them test them, but that seems a little crazy to do randomly.

Any advice would be great, I have to get this car running so I can keep on interviews and find a new job.

thanks,
Chris

If it's a manual Transmission, you've got a Starter Safety Switch located on the pedal hanger just behind the clutch pedal.
If it's an Automatic, you've got a neutral safety switch located on the shifter mechanism.

If you're proficient with a 12v test light, probe the signal wire which connects to the Starter Solenoid and see if you have power (when the key is turned to the 'start' position).*
If you do, suspect the starter
If you don't, most likely one of the two switches i mentioned is at fault.

P

* caution is warranted, it could start.
