1987 Honda Accord lxi
My Son has a Honda Accord lxi 4 cy we need some help no heat coming out at all heard these cars have some tech problems with the heater blower. Any suggestions on what might be the problem and how we can fix it maybe with a switch hoping it's not the wiring... Thanks C

I don't have an '87 so I can't really help. But tell us more...
If the blower works, but it blows cold air, then I'd look for a cable going from the temperature control out to the actual heater valve. The valve is probably on a heater hose in the engine compartment, near the firewall. Watch for the valve moving when your son slides the control back & forth from hot - cold.
If the blower fan doesn't work, then look for blown fuses, bad relay, busted switch, or blown speed-control resistor. I hope someone with an '87 can tell you where that stuff is located.

first off... go to http://www.3geez.com it is an 86-89 Accord message board and it will give you better answers
Secondly, I have an 88LXi and like Jim said, check the cable for the valve. It is located behind the intake manifold and sort of beneath the dog bone motor mount. Then if the blower inst working at all check fuses, but it is not uncommon for the motor to stop working. We had to replace it on my sister's 90 Accord. The motor is located behind the stereo area.

Easiest way to simply tell if it's the blower motor or in the switches and wiring, is to take a test light or volt meter and unplug the connector at the blower motor, see if it's getting power. If it is, the blower is bad. If it's not, blower is (probably) fine and it's either the switch, fuses, wiring, etc. If the resistor pack was bad it would still work but only on HI setting, no others. The switch itself would also be high on my suspect list.... check that and see if it's getting any power. You could check the switch for continuity in each of the positions, but you need to have a manual to get the pinouts of the connector to see which pins to probe. Electrical stuff you gotta start at the end and work backwards until you find the cause.... could be something unrelated to the heater/blower itself, like an ignition switch problem
