Default 192 degree thermostat in 94 Accord

Hi,

I'm thinking about changing the thermostat in my Accord and going with a hotter temp. Anyone put a hotter thermostat in their car? Any issues?

Thanks, Paul

a hotter temp thermostat?

192 sounds like a stock thermostat.

180 seems standard. Looks like you can go up or down 10 or so degrees.

hmm... for the life of me I just cant recall the stock thermostat temp

I know in the manual it says something like the thermostat is supposed to start opening at ~170 and be fully opened by 194 in the thermostat test.

Just talked to a parts store. 180 is standard. They carry Stant thermostats and I can go up to a 195.

For your best bet, stick with stock temp, unless you have major engine work done to your car you wont be doing any good going up or down, honda spent a lot of money figuring out what temp the head and block should be at while at operating temp, why change it Click the image to open in full size.

Following up - I had a 195 Super Stat by Stant put in my car. The heat is toasty warm now.
