Default 06+ Rear Conversion on 7th Gen

How much will it cost to do a conversion on an 03 Accord Coupe to a 06+ Rear? I seen the conversion done and it looks nice. I was wondering if I converted it how much will I be investing and also will I need to do any body fabrications that involve with welding or cutting out pieces of the frame. If I need to do any thing that will be effecting the paint or the original frame, please let me know so I will not do a conversion. If there are no needs for any custom fabrications, can someone tell me what parts I will need? Is it just the rear bumper, trunk, tail lights? Here are some pics.

Thanks so much.

Buddy, unless you just happen to run across a severe front-end accident car that was dropped very cheaply, it seems to me that you are going to be spending waaaay too much money to do that.

You say you don't want custom fabrication? Well the whole rear end is differn't. It's isn't going to be something where you can just bolt up parts. I agree with the guy above. I think you'd be better off to just trade your 03 in on a new one if you want one that bad.

in my own opinion, i think the 03-05 rear looks better. the new ones remind me of this car:

more trouble than it's worth but to each his own.

Yeah, swapping out a rear end on any vehicle involves alot of custom work. I mean you'll pretty much have the entire back half of the car cut off and then the 06+ rear quarters and unibody welded into place where the original was...

I'm gonna agree wholeheartedly with the other people who've posted here. If you like the 06+ rear end style, just trade up for it. That'd save you alot of grief and money.

I'm wondering if some of you think he wants to put the 06+ rear on a 6th gen, when he's actually talking about putting the newer 7th gen rear on an older 7th gen car.

06+ rear:

03-05 rear:

The car in this thread was converted to 06+ tails...

To fit correctly, all you need are the taillights, trunk lid, and rear bumper. That's it.

thats gonna be hard. see the other lines and shape, looks different. You can buy the back half of the 07 Accord and weld it to the 03 Accord =P

They're not different. I'm telling you... All you need is the taillights, trunk lid, and rear bumper. The rear quarter panels are still the same.

06+ has LED tails. The tails do not have a smooth curved (outer) lens like the 03-05. Instead, it has one "sharp" edge. To match that edge/body line, the top section of the trunk lid was extended slightly. This edge/body line is near the top of the taillight, and would definitely be noticeable if you don't swap trunk lids. The curvature where the taillights meet the rear bumper is also slightly different, but it's barely noticeable.

You guys need to stop responding if you don't know what you are talking about. Like philadd said IT IS A SIMPLE CONVERSION.

No metal cutting, no custom fabrication, nothing of the sort.

TAILLIGHTS, BUMPER, TRUNK, TRUNK LIGHT. PERIOD.

i was always wondering why there's only 7 gen's of accords, when i've seen those to (distinctly different) rear ends on the newer ones.

i guess it's a 1/2 gen kinda like the 98-00 to 01-02 taillight switch in the 6th gen.

i REALLY like the led tails (and square-ness) of the newest style.

Thank you philadd and h22 you guys know your stuff because after the other people said i have to do a whole body modification, and they told me that the body was different, i was thinking that it cant be true because i went to the dealer for a replacement key and i check the body line of the 03 and the new 06+ they were both the same. So i realize that it was a simple conversion but after philadd's post, i noticed it. So thank you so much.

Thanks to:
Philadd
H2290

I hope i can find all these parts at the junk yard. Wish me luck.

I didn't pay attention to the coupe part. I was thinking he wanted to do this to a sedan and they are totally differn't. The coupes don't look too differn't but I don't know what would be needed to do it.
