[problem] Fuel filter replacement - '96 CE2 F20B3
Hi
I've got a problem with fuel filter replacement. Honda service manual describes how to do this in a few simple steps. In theory there shouldn't be any trouble. In practice i'm not able to put in my hands with tools almost anywhere nearby the filter.
Do you know any tricks, hints, ways...to replace fuel filter in Aerodeck with F20B3 engine without hard disassembly in engine bay?
Thanks in advance

I have the 90 LX and when I replaced it, I had to put a wrench on the bottom then turn the top nut. It's real hard to turn if it never has been replaced.

You mean turning the whole filter while holding the screw hidden under the filter on the bottom... Hmm...sounds good, might work.
I'm gonna try it your way. Thanks

90-93 Accord doesn't have the same fuel filter placement as the 94-97. The 94-97 is a PITA. I did it with the engine out of the car.
There's an FAQ at the top of this section. In it there is a link to fuel filter replacement. Here it is.

Very helpful. Thanks.
I'll try replacing filter 'under the cloud' - as we say in Poland...which means no garage available

Nice, if the weather permit, under the cloud is always good for me. My father in law lives in Norway. It must be nice where you are. I live in Fullerton, CA. People dream to visit SoCal, but I guess I am lucky.

I've got family in Costa Mesa. Nice place with 'thousand diamonds strewn across a blue blanket.' You are lucky, i am lucky somehow - don't you think everyone is lucky in a way?
...but coming back to the topic - i made it with the filter. What i needed, was:
- 14mm & 19mm wrench
- 17mm socket with ratchet handle (correct names of tools?)
- rubber hummer helve (disassembled rubber hummer)
- torch
I follwed the instruction from faq, but didn't access the bottom of the filter from under the car. After removing everything (throttle cable, vacuum lines & fuel pipe) from the top end, i used the 19mm nut welded on the top of the filter, and 14mm nut at the end of fuel pipe from the tank. Two wrenches and the hummer helve did the job. You just have to set both 14 & 19mm wrenches in a position, where they have about 20° angle (seen from top) betwen them - something like this > \/. Then just put the helve between them and use a little force, so that both wrenches will move in opposite ways. That was all. The only problem is how to convince both wrenches to stay put on the nuts
It took me about 40 minutes including one phone call, and was (almost) the simpliest fuel filter replacement i've ever had (Celica and cc7 Accord were more complicated).
Thanks for your help

Congrats on the filter change! It's a real pain to do... You didn't use a singe crowfoot? Btw it's cool to have people from other countries in the forum! I am Bulgarian but currently reside in SoCal.

That's right - no crowfoot. This is how i did this.
I registered here, because i couldn't get an answer on my local forum. The bigger place is better for getting a sensible answer. And yeah - it's kinda nice talking (writing) to people from different parts of the world.

Feel free to use it In the shop they told me it's necessary to disassemble 'half of the car', to get an access to the filter, but...we know, that sometimes it's not so complicated. Good luck.
