ive owned my teal ex coupe for about a month now, still needs alot of work but happy how far the car has come so far, but onto the pics and mind you the sun was going down and it was only a quick wash, i plan on buffing and waxing it once the new front end is painted and on

Scary how similar the e46 sillouhette is to the ej1, take the hoffmeister kink out of the rear quarter glass and the body lines are very similar as well.

@89dxcivic A lexus sc300/400 toyota soarer is a true coupe as well, but its shape and body lines are completely different. Ive always seen a similarity between civics and 3 series bmws. In fact i could name many other true "coupes" with much less similar shape and design, dodge challenger, notchback 5.0 mustangs, s13 coupe, s14, r32,33,34 skylines etc... None of those even come close to reminding me of an ej1. Now im not saying all 3's remind of our cars because ive owned 2 e30s and they remind me more of a datsun 510 than anything. Just saying, its possible bmw may have "borrowed" some design cues from the ej1's, and the ej8 coupes, seeing as they were such a popular design. Hey its possible, you germans have done crazier things @fabiandelsol lol

Truuu, but even though they have their similarities I don't think BMW ever intended to replicated or borrow any design cues. However, the roof line is VERY similar so who knows

^^^ glad somone else sees this as well, and exactly the rooflines are dead on, im no expert when it comes to automotive design, but i know subaru purposely used styling cues from the e90 on the current impreza so whos to say germany wouldnt look to japan for inspiration? (far fetched i know) but hard to ignore when you look at the ej1 and e46 side by side.
