you should be able to swap a 4 rib crank pulley for a 3 rib no problem as long as the two are the same diameter, a different diameter however will cause your alternator to spin too slow or too fast

Are the timing marks in the same place? Different diameter pulleys would **** your timing too.

PS, i don't think changing the block would effect idle. Idle controlled almost 95% by the intake. Unless you're having dramas with the throttle able length?

well the timing should already be set correct? all it is, is taking out the crank pulley and changing it out to another one. either way, i can do timing by removing spark plug and seeing tdc that way if the markings are off.

I completely forgot about the timing marks being on there, but them being in the right spot is very important though because even if you have no trouble setting timing with out them you did say it was for someone else's car, you wouldn't want them to try to adjust the timing with a light one day and bend up some valves

efnewb- dude if both of you guys were there for the same part I'm sorry to say but he needs it a little more than you do man

i had a friend go tune his lsvt and he had a japan spec ls crank pulley on his car. the tuner could not get a reading on his timing. removed it and replaced with a pulley that was from a usdm engine to find the timing off to 30 degrees or so. somehow the car ran a year like that no problems. but if it comes down to it, changing alternator wouldnt hurt or even changing the pulley on the alternator itself. right?

It'd be impossible to know if it's 100%. Say you remove the old crank pulley, put the new one on and the keyway is in a slightly different location you will never be able to find out whether the crank or cams moved during the swap over.

I don't know why you would be adjusting mechanical timing with a light? Or i don't know why you would bend valves checking your ignition timing, lol.

And if the markings weren't in the right spot, a light wouldn't work anyway because the markings would be arbitrary.

You said something about changing the alternator pulley, that sounds like a much better idea.

Lol, it is just an hf swap, but I know its fresh. I have decided to just enjoy the good gas mileage and fix all the small things wrong with it. When I get it where I want it I'm going to build a vitara motor with a turbo set up for it...

Well, it goes like this, on 08-03-2012 03:57 AM on Honda-Tech, in the thread "Official EF SEDAN SQUAD", Mr. ~sp33~ was the last person to post. Then promptly at 08-04-2012 06:04 AM, 26 hours and 7 minutes later, in the same thread on Honda-Tech, Mr. joliver posted about receiving some money and planning on swapping engines in his car, therefore ending the more than 24 hour hiatus in posting. I hope I was able to provide more details in the current situation.

Just messin. Yeah, where the hell has everyone been? Sometimes I get on here and have to read like 5 pages to keep up.

@joliver- Good to hear man, I'm looking forward to hearing some more details as well

Such a smart ***, lol. I honestly checked the thread a few times but didn't really have anything to say... but I finally had to break the awkward silence

the pipe is for a GSR that I got off ebay, and the filter is just as unimpressive, a Spectre.

I have tons. I don't know if you're looking for anything in particular, so I'll post chronologically from "out of the box" up until the point of my ZC's demise . From Jan 2005 to Feb 2011.

I don't know if any of you remember the term "56k - No Way" but it applies starting now! lol:
