i used a c pillar bar from a DA....i just had to extend the bolts on the ends almost all the way..they are about 4-5 full turns....you can see what i mean from the pics

hey squad i need some opinions,

heres my situation, ive narrowed it down to 2 engines.

ANYWAYS, would you guys rather buy an automatic y8, and use your old transmission that had a 3rd gear grind for $250ish

or

buy a 5 spd y8. for $500

both motors are full swaps and comparable as far as wear, they are both clean motors in other words.

i just personally feel like auto motors are better cause the chance of people beating on them is less...but if the tranny is good on the 5sp one...you get taht ..and you have extra everything...to either keep for spare or sell for doe

Just dish out another $250 and get the manual swap. Eventually you're going to have to replace the transmission if you plan to sell the car later on or for other reasons. I think D16y8 transmission run $250-400?

I was going to mention this, but i don't have any factual information to support it, if you want a rigid chassis get a cage

sway bars and strut bars make a noticeable improvement though.

I made a template from a piece of notepad backing cardboard so that I could test fit the side marker first. Then I taped the template to the fender and cut a hole with my dremel. It's scary to cut into your car and you don't want to make the hole too big.

yea i did it on my si fenders when i was gonna go with my 99-00civic front end. i ended up getting them slanted a tiny bit. not noticeable if u just look but it bugged me... im just gonna buy fenders with put them on that way lol

i have decide what route im taking and what's in plan for the future. Im going to build a full track car, not drag. For some reason drag really doesn't interest me as much. It's going to be used for time attack and some auto-x. However this won't be finished until maybe next year because im still in high school. I have to decide wether i'm going to use the civic or grab another platform, whatever i end up using will be fully gutted, caged, and no type of mods to the engine since the class i want to run in only allows unlimited tires and suspension, no engine mods. Basically a stock class. (that info is for the time attack) ....i also want to get a motorcycle to daily drive when i go off to college since im going to commute and its a 40-50 min drive, cali traffic
