Default Welding/Valve Cover Question

I want to shave the letters off the current VC, and add something else instead. Can I have the new letters made, and weld them on with no problem? I have tried googling valve cover customization, but all that comes back are people painting them.

But I can weld onto the cover correct? I don't have one right now, so that is why I am asking such a noobish question.

Knowing how fat aluminum beads usually are compared to steel, I'm not entirely sure you're going to like the outcome.

Valve cover is cast aluminum so CNC the lettering out of an aluminum block and weld it on. Companies do it all the time with intake manifolds for their "badges"

I put my valve covers in our cnc mill and use an 8" fly cutter to surface them. I've tried every other method and there's no better way to make the surface uniform, since you'll see every flaw after painting/coating.

But like previously stated, given how large most aluminum tig beads are it will take some serious work to make them blend. And even then I'm not sure the finished product will look right

What are you thinking about putting on the valve cover.
