Need help asap on flywheel resurfacing
Ok, I have a d16z6 and its boosted and im getting ready to put in my new comp clutch (4 puck sprung) and i have a light weight flywheel and i dont know if i should resurface it for the new clutch or not. when i built the motor i got it from a guy who said the light weight flywheel and stage 1 clutch were new, and now my clutch slips for a breef second in 3rd and 4th at the track, so im putting in my clutch. so my question is if my flywheel was new when i put the motor together, is it safe to resurface the flywheel for the new clutch/ i have alot of guys saying not to resurface it and just put ne new clutch on but i dont want to screw up the new clutch. any help please?

If you care about getting maximum life from the new clutch, then yes... resurface the flywheel. It usually costs $30-$50 at machine shops. A perfectly level surface on the flywheel offers the clutch more surface area to grab, which means the clutch will be more effective in using all of its disc(s). This means it wears more evenly, lasts longer, and holds more torque.
They also sell ball-style resurfacing hones that fit into drills to do flywheels and brake rotors. You can opt for this if yours isn't too scored/hot-spotted/etc. when you take it out. They're pretty cheap, re-usable for other jobs like friends' flywheels, and skips the downtime if the machine shop happens to be busy and/or lazy.
