Hello all!! I'm super excited to have finally found a clean enough EG shell to start working with. I picked up my 1994 Civic Ex VTEC needing a replacement transmission so I swapped a S40 5spd transmission from the junkyard in it last week and just got home from a 800 mile round trip perfectly fine. Now that I'm back in my shop, the transmission will not go into reverse.

So, its not grinding or anything but my problem is that the shifter is hitting the center console assumingly not allowing me to move it far enough to get into reverse. The junkyard obviously drilled out the roll pin from the replacement transmission so the hole for it is slightly larger than stock. Very slightly larger. I was able to get a new OEM pin in there with some force and I did indeed use the pin removal/install tool. With all of that said, what's the fix for this? Should I just use a bolt instead of the pin? I figure that, when shifting into reverse, the linkage turns slightly and the current pin is slipping not allowing the linkage to connect solid enough to the transmission to make this happen.

Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Maybe rather how does the shift rod work? Does it only go in and out or does it rotate also?
