EF won't start!? TRIED EVERYTHING!
CALLING ALL HONDA ENGINE GURUS!
I have a '90 civic with a 1.5L dual point on it. I was backing out of my driveway when it stalled on me. I cranked and cranked with no luck.
So far I've tried...
- Checked for spark and all cylinders are firing.
- Checked the rotor to make sure it was on tight, it was.
- Checked for fuel.. took banjo bolt off, and it sprayed out like crazy..
but I wasn't sure if it was getting anyting out of the injectors, so I sprayed some carb cleaner into the TB while someone cranked it, and there was absolutely no change.
- Checked timing and it didn't jump any teeth.
- The ground to the thermostat looks good.
I don't understand what it could be. I have yet to check compression but I don't see how that would be a logical resolution when it just stalled out on me all of a sudden. I can hear the main relay click when I turn the key as well. Any help at all would be great. I've checked all fuses under the dash and in the engine bay. All look good. I don't think it could be an ignition switch when all cylinders are getting good spark.
I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY IT WONT START!! ARG!
Gets fuel, spark, and its in time. what am I missing? Is there a cam/crank position sensor on cars this old? If so where would it be located? THanks for any help!!!!!

if everything that you checked was right
maybe the pulse sensor in the distributor is bad..
check with another distributor to be sure.
this pulse sensor send the firing pulse to the sparks.

is it throwing any code?
do you hear all the normal clicks when you put it to onII
did you do anything to the engine before this happened?

The motor is getting park though. Would the motor be getting spark with a bad pulse sensor?

Checked for codes.. ECU indicates no codes. Can a bad ignition switch still send spark to the plugs? Or can a main relay that "clicks" still be bad?

You will need to see if the injectors are pulsing, simple way is to try starting engine, then immediately remove a spark plug and inspect the end for fuel, does it look "wet" with gas, does it smell of gas, can you light it with a match/lighter.
Yes the PGM-FI Main Relay can be bad, even if it clicks, it is actually two (2) relays, fuel pump relay and fuel injector relay, it will click 3 times, the first two can sound like one click, when you turn your ign. switch to run, [not start] you should hear the first two clicks, [very close together] the first click is the fuel injector relay turning on the second is the fuel pump relay turning on, at the same time the CEL will turn on and youw will hear the fuel pump priming for a few sec., then the 3rd click, [fuel pump relay turning off] at the same time the fuel pump will stop priming and the CEL will go out.
To confirm PGM-FI Main Relay is working, once you have turned on the ign. check for power at the fuel injectors, [wire that is the same color on all 4 injectors] you will also need to make sure both IPG1 and IPG2 at the ECU/ECM have power, [supplied by the fuel injector relay. 94
