gsr tranmission/lsd
Im installing a lsd and can't get my transmission house caseing off. I have it apart about a inch. Does anyone know what im doing wrong or anyone know how to take it apart

So it sounds like you've got the snap ring apart right? since you've got it apart bout an inch already just get some help and pull it apart--at least that's what I did...

IM trying to learn and didn't know where to find any manual. I got a hynes manual but does don't have tranny repair section. I have ethe tranmission apart but now can't get it to gether.

Please go buy or borrow a Helms before you hurt anything...there are lots of little parts ina trans that may have fallen out, etc...you need to seperate the snap ring to get it back on, and don't pry on the mating surface...and use Hondabond between the two parts to seal them up.

The snap ring that is being referred to hides behind a threaded plug that has a square hole for a ratchet. If you try to force the cases apart without removing all of the necessary pieces, you are going to cause yourself major headaches.

If its a hydro tranny. There are 2 spring loaded bolts on the side with ball bearings in them. You need to take those out. Take out the reverse sensor. And at the very end of the casing (opposite from input shaft) there is a 1/2" drive looking bolt. That needs to come out and a there is a snap ring in there. Separate it with needle nose or snap ring pliers. If done correctly, the piece will drop slightly, and the snap ring will be free. The case should come apart after that. It is a pain to get it back together though. A manual would definately be beneficial.

Very detailed, has separate instructions for removing, dissassembling, re-assembling and installing the transmission. I could never have dropped my transmission without it, and for God's sake you should at least know the torque specs of those bolts! That's a bit more critical here than when you're installing a muffler...

Dont u have to properly shim the differential because of differet tranny castings in cases??? i dunnno someone correct me if i`m wrong....

I don't find manual transmissions all that confusing but I wouldn't dream of opening one up without the correct information. Get a HELMS. All the other ones are crap. Not worth the paper they are printed on.

Update:
Well, finally got the tranny back together and back on the engine. As b19coupe stated about thesnapring, made it alot easier taking off the case. The snap ring was giving me trouble and i didn't know how to lossen the snap ring. After that it was easy taking out and putting the gears back together. I'm just waiting till the HondaBond dries so i can put oil in the car and test the lsd. Thanks for all the infor it really helpedd out. AS for the torque I hand tight with the wrench and thats it.J/k

There isn't a seperate manual for the gsr, the helms has specs etc. for both vtec and non-vtec engines. Just go find integra and choose the correct year. If you don't know the year of your engine, get 94-95 for obd1 and any year 96-on for obd2.
