Final Drive Question... 4.4 in 5spd & 4.765 in 6spd...
I own a 2000 Civic Si and I know the final drive is 4.4:1 with a 5 speed trans.
I looked online and saw that the 2006 Si's have a 4.765 with a 6 speed trans.
Now my question is if I am in 5th gear at 80 mph in my 00 Si and the 06 Civic Si is in 6th gear at 80 mph what is the difference in RPM going to be? Will my cars RPM be higher even though the final drive is longer? Will the RPM in the 06 Si be lower?
Thanks in advance, your help is greatly appreciated!
James

Re: (No_Fear)
I think the ratio is drive shaft turns: wheel turns. so 4.4:1 drive shft turns to 1 turn of the wheel vs. 4.76:1 If this is correct then the closer you get to 1:1 the lower the rpm will be at a certain speed. I don't know if this is correct , can somebody else chime in.
