Has Anyone had a gross pulluter in california?? I asked dmv if i had to take it to the state referee and they said no, but the car failed last month as a gross polluter.. I need to pass the smog in order to get the new title and change ownership on the car.. Do i have to take it to a test only station?? or can i just take it to any smog place??

My CRX was a GP when I first bought it (bad o2 sensor and broken catalytic). I only had to take it to a test only joint.

back when there werent as many test only stations in 1996, i had to go to the ref when i was tagged as a gross polluter.

i dont remember what the printout said, but all i know is that i visited the california state ref and passed.

No because once you fix the problem and get it smogged at the test only center and pass, you're no longer a gross polluter.

They told me that too.

But what really happens is after 1 year, they send you a notice to get smogged again. If you pass that then you will not have to get smogged every year.

If you get a gross polluter agian, then you will have to do the whole thing over again.

good luck.

If you are a gross polluter, you need to address the issues which are causing your car to emit large amounts of pollutants. You will not pass anywhere, unless you have the money to pay somebody crooked to pass your car anyway.

Well, i think its due to the high flow cat, so i would take that out and replace it with a regular cat.... I wonder if i replace all that and take it with the b16, would it pass?
