I'm looking to swap a B20 into my 2000 DC4 as my stock motor is toast. Now, I understand the differences between the higher compression B20's and the lower compression B20's. And I understand that all the higher compression B20's have a knock sensor. Is that correct?

Now, Im having difficulty finding a 99-00 B20B/Z as many of the places I've visted can get the 96-98 B20B. The torque is identical on both the options, however the 96-98 B20B has 126hp with around 131 lb/tq where as the newer 99-00 have 146hp and around 133 lb/tq. Will the loss of 20hp feel noticebly different for a daily driver?
Am i better off putting in the 96-98 B20B or wait to find a higher compression motor?
Will I be okay using the stock intake manifold from an LS?

Rated at 126hp

99-00 JDM B20B are 9.6:1 PHK compresion pistons
Rated at 146hp

97-98 USDM B20B are 8.8:1 p3f compression pistons

99-00 USDM B20Z are 9.6:1 PHK compression pistons

i have 01 DC with a JDM B20B with Greddy Headers,Full Exhaust, Skunk2 IM, And a cold air and the car runs hard.....so my suggestion is sit tight till you can get a 99-00 B20 B/Z
because is not only HP difference but also COMPRESSION
And also 99-00 B20 B/Z are really underrated sooo......just wait period
