Who's got the best value in cam gears these days?
Man, it's been at least 13 years since I bought a set. Likely more. My favorite were always the old Jun/Spoon/Toda/etc that used OE gears with an adjustable core.
Who is making decent ones for a decent price these days? I don't need to spend a ton of money for the absolute best ones, but I don't want to try and save a few bucks and end up with a slipping, out of true pair of junk ones either.
Input appreciated

I got my Bisi moto gears years ago but they are well made and worth it he even sighned them for me personally lol, they have teeth to prevent slip up to 14,000rpms!

I've had cheap ones fail and good ones fail. What I did to solve the issue is once my cams are degreed in I had the gears drilled and pinned. Can't slip after that.

Re: Who's got the best value in cam gears these days?
I bought Junk2 Pro series for myself and I've heard both good and bad. Scary they pride themselves on being the lightest, but I do like their design and they seem well made being 7075 aluminum and having 6 bolts to secure them. The mounting ears where the 6 bolts go are fairly small for my liking if I were to design a set. I don't think you can go wrong with the TODA, the 1st gen are heavy as hell though utilizing the factory cam gear outer and being adjustable. 2nd gen like pictured are a quality piece for sure. Anyone have any insight on the AEM TrueTime?

I don't really see the benefit of "lightweight" cam gears, sounds like marketing hype to me. The difference is probably negligible, unlike a lighter pistons who's speed is much faster, or a lightweight flywheel where you're taking off 3-4 lbs of weight. I run the Golden Eagle cam gears and have had no problems. I like the design, the only thing I didn't like was their bolts for adjustment rusted within a year, so I replaced them with stainless fasteners. Other than that, you can't really go wrong with them.

16 ounces makes a pound I guess... But yeah there are better places to save weight than cam gears imo. They're relatively low inertia and rotate at half engine speed. I liked the old school stock gear ones because they were just that... stock gears. SO I was confident that they were going to have the correct tooth profile, fit nicely under the valve cover (I've experienced some that touched a little bit on an uncut cover), etc.
Seems like everything decent is in the $250 range. I'll likely end up with a Golden Eagle set, I plan on going to a cam trigger at some point and I can get one with the magnet already installed. Not a super huge deal, but it will save me from having to gain access to a machine shop to do it myself when the time comes. I also like their vernier scale for adjusting.

Fortunately for them, I don't care to run a cut valve cover. My vote goes to function over form every time, but I find the GE ones to be straight fugly.
