Default Progress Non-adjust/K-Sport 36 way

Before the topic gets started.....I know that you get what you pay for in this business, just hear me out

I have had good experiences with progress stuff over the years in several of my ITC civics. They are built with quality and have a rep for extensive testing, fit, etc.

I am building a 90 dx street car and am in the suspension stage. I have looked at many of the other packages on the market such as Tein, Apxi, Progress, etc. The thing is that this is a street car and not a race car so I don't feel like spending $1500 on a car that will only be a weekend warrior.

I can most likely get a set of the progress non-adjustable coilovers for about $750 or so....Again, I like their products but think that at this point in the import game that adjustability should be standard on any $700-$800 plus system. Anyway...I know that Penske's and others cost $$$$ and are not adjustable, but for street/track/autox the adjustability may be worth taking a chance on the k-sports. I don't know how long I will be able to take riding around on super stiff springs in the pothole capital of the world.....Anyway...can score a pair of the k-sports for about $550....

OT, but I'd like to know where you're getting Progress shocks for $750. Is this the rebuildable, or non-rebuildable set?

I've been very happy with my past use of the progress coilovers and wouldn't spend the money on K-sports regardless of the price.

I ran Tokiko Illuminas (adjustable) with the Progress "street" spring set up on my 91 DX for quite a while, and was very happy with it. I wasn't doing alot of track or auto-x stuff, but it seemed like a tolerable compromise of ride and handling for a daily driver.

I've got the Progress coil-overs and 450/650 springs in it now with all the spherical bearings in the suspension. Handles great, but I'm glad it's no longer my daily driver. No doubt there will be someone to post that has Penskes or Tein ultra-stiffies on his only car who'll tell you how great it is on the street. But I 'm a grown up. And I would never want anything valved that stiff on the street.

If you're really going to use it as a driver, I'd stay away from the race valved stuff and killer spring rates. Illuminas, Koni Sports, KYB, etc. should be fine for street spring package.
