How do you transport your track wheels?
Those of you who drive their car to the track/autocross and change tires how do you transport them?
I was looking into different options, but they are all pretty expensive or unsafe.
I was considering a hitch and a DIY basket or a roof rack.

Civic hatch, just don't feel safe with unsecured wheels/tires inside the car.

I used bungees and ratchet straps for my wheels/tires in the back of my Civics. I hooked the bottom wheel with the one hook and went up and around the top 2 wheels/tires and hooked into the bottom of the other wheel/tire.
I also did the Yakima rack with Mighty Mounts and my own tire rack made of pressure treated 2x2" wood. That made my Civic go from 25-30mpg to 15-20mpg
Next best thing is the Harbor Freight trailer which I'm looking into this year.

Re: How do you transport your track wheels?
Previously I've just thrown two in the hatch and two on top of the back seat (folded down, 96 hatch btw). After I was sandwiched between two trucks back in December with a transmission in the back (Chevy HHR) I am going to secure them down someway. Will probably use the stock spare bracket for the two in the hatch and have two small brackets welded on each side just behind the bottom of the rear seat.
P.S. The trans didn't come any farther than the rear seat but after the rear impact (I was stopped, Silverado hit me doing 45) it did break the hatch interior panel (broke in the shape of the clutch housing) and bent the rear seat after the frontal impact.
I never gave any thought to securing them before as I never figured I'd be in a wreck on the way to an event, then again I never figured I'd get *** raped by a Silverado on a route I take up to several times a day.
If you have a roll bar you could just fab a net (nylon strapping) that attaches to the rear of the hoop and stows away easily once at the track.

I put 4 on the car, 4 in the car and then another 4 in the Van I tow with, along with the 2 tents, tables, tool box and other assorted racing nonsense!
