Where do these J35 engine bolts go?
Hi folks,
Just rebuilt the J35 engine on my 2006 Honda Ridgeline. Several months went by between disassemble and assemble. All went together well but when I was done I had these bolts left over. They were in a bag I marked "valve cover" but they are NOT the valve-cover bolts, which are skinnier and have washers/grommets on them. I have checked EVERYTHING and have lost sleep over this. I am afraid to crank the engine up and ruin something. FWIW, I have been building engines for many years but this is must first J35.

I don't have a ridgeline but those bolts look just like the timing cover bolts of civics, just a little wider. Same design though to hold together the front and back timing belt covers as well as the upper and lower covers.
Plus any behind the harmonic balancer (crank pulley).

Thank you for taking the time to answer. I now feel like a disorganized fool. These bolts were from a valve cover of a 98 Nissan Frontier I took apart and junked almost two years ago. I had planned on rebuilding the engine but the customer didn't want to spend the dough. I had put them in a bag and labeled them "valve cover." They got mixed in with the bolts from my current J35 rebuild!
Thanks, again!
