Default 2006 Odyssey Frontend Rattle

I have a 2006 Odyssey Touring with 96K miles on it. I have recently noticed a rattle at lower speeds or stopping when on a rough service or going over a bump. The noise sounds like a bad strut. I took it to my local Honda Dealership twice now. The first time they said they could not duplicate the noise, but everything was tight and in great shape. The noise continued and I brought it back 3 weeks later. This time a Tech rode with me and observed the noise. He acted as if he knew what the problem was. A couple of hours later, the advisor told me they was no probelm with the van. Everythiong was tight and in great condition. Then he tells me the rattle is due to the age and mileage of the van, and it is normal for it to rattle. Nothing can be done to correct it. I have had several Hondas, some upto 180K miles and never had a loose rattleing noise underneath, much less told Hondas jjst rattle when they are 5 years old. Has anyone else experienced this noise, and was able to get it fixed? Any help here would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks
Jason

There are alot of possibilities for a front end rattle, but I wouldnt call it normal. Maybe "acceptable" but not normal. Intermittent problems are just hard to find. Took me 6 months to figure out a noise on my MDX that turned out to be sway bar bushings. Sounds like you just need to find a mechanic who will be persistent enough to find the problem.

try see if the nosie goes away when applying brakes, could be the brake calipers rattling, due to worn slide pins.

motor mounts dont cause rattling over bumps. they cause vibration or clunking noise when accelerating. common causes for rattling would be front brake calipers, swaybar bushings or endlinks and inner tie rods.

Just went through this with our 06 Odyssey Touring. My wife drives it and has it serviced at the local Honda dealer, she took it in for front end noise and they told her it was normal, nothing wrong.
I checked it out and it seemed to only make the noise when stopping, starting or changing direction from forward to reverse. bumps in the road and driving down the road were normal, no noise.
After checking motor and transmission mounts, ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar links/joints, and finding no problem I started checking all the subframe and suspension bolts, I finally found the lower a-arm front mount bolt loose, it took about 1/2 a turn to tighten it. You can't get a wrench on it from the bottom as the sway bar is in the way,
you need to remove the wheel and you can get to it from the top side. I checked both sides and only the right side was loose.
No more noise/clunk

Something else you can look at on yours.

We have an 04 Odyssey with what souns to be a very similar situation. However, we noticed it with about 30000 miles on the van and have had it in to Honda several times to be looked at for this problem. The van currently has 90000 miles and still no resolution. It seems to be isolated to the left wheel and only noticable at low speeds over small bumps or broken pavement.
I too would be very interested if anyone has experienced this or finds a resolution.

^^^^See if the noise goes away when slightly applying brakes. if it does, brake calipers.

I'm new to this site. I wanted to see if you have fixed your noise issue. I have a 2007 EX with 53000mi and am experiencing a noise, clunking sound over anything but smooth road. I have seen all the replys from sway bar bushings, end links, control arm bushings etc to bolts that need tightening. Have you found a cure yet. Thanks
