Well, I recently got my new toy in the mail -- Osram Nightbreaker H4's. These are the latest (and from what I've seen, greatest) thing to come out of E-Code lighting.

These bulbs are stellar, let me tell you. They're quite equal, if not a hair bluer, to the Philips X-Treme Power +80% on the low beam. On the high beam is where they really shine. They are SIGNIFICANTLY brighter than anything I've ever used, even the X-Treme Power. The output is very nice and white, a tad bluish though. Even so, the spread of the light and the distance is impressive to say the least. I highly recommend this bulb for anyone who does a fair bit of back-roads driving.
H4 (9003) Bulb Specifications
The bulbs in their nifty little package.
Notice the three different output sectors. The rear portion has a light dichroric filter used when the high beams are on. The top portion has a slightly darker color for a pleasant blueish tone to the low beams.

damn i did not know the light was a little blue
... i thought it was pure white. and you said that the xtreme was a little blue too damn this is not good. in other pics i have not seen a hint of blue on both.

The blue is not awful. It's not like HYPERWHITE blue. It's just blue compared to a completely uncoated bulb. It's not extreme like a SilverStar or some ricer brand.

What is the difference between H4 and 9003? Is the H4 only legal in Europe?
Also, if anyone can explain how they can get so much brightness, yet the wattage stays the same.

Generally, it's by pushing the "allowable specs" to the absolute limits, though they may also employ unique filament material, design, and positioning, an improved gas mix, higher gas pressure, etc...

How is this bulb any different that the other blue-tinted bulbs. I notice it's tinted blue at the bottom half. I thought the blue filters everything non-blue and gives appearance of whiter color without any real performance change.

These bulbs are not fully "tinted", they just have partial dichroic filters on portions of the glass which are designed to produce a slightly whiter output and look "whiter" when viewed from outside the vehicle (you'll note that the filter bands do not cover the actual filament location). However, first and foremost, they are built to provide true, improved lighting performance through various design elements , unlike the typical heavily tinted eBay ricer bulbs.

Because they are pushing the specs to the absouldte limits, does this mean bulb life is sacrificed?

i read that you suggest thse for backroad driving. well what about normal city driving? are they too bright for that? aka going to **** off other drivers or have a big glare? also, i just order them from powerbulbs. what can i use those for?! or should i just sell them on ebay when i get them?!

No, these are fine for city driving. The low beams just aren't that spectacular, so if you only do city driving, you won't notice these as being the "best bulbz evar."

Both their low beams are comparable. They seemed almost the exact color and brightness. The high beams really sell me on this bulb.
