cheapest set i've ever seen for HID low beam, hallogen highbean is about $250~ from a local parts shop. bi-xeon are even more. dont cheap out on anything safety related like headlights. id rather see that deer on the road 30 yards away.

cheapest direct fit and plugs with adapters so theres no splicing anyhow

Garbage, the lot of it. A reliable, good set of HIDs will run you $100 bare minimum. Phillips is the name to go for. On top of that, you need a retrofit, which will cost you a minimum of $150 in parts alone.

as mentioned here already, do not cheap out on something safety related, especially the thing that allows you to see at night. German HID's have gotten good reviews. They are what most cars are equipped with. Spend the money, get something that is tested and proven to work. To many times have i seen cars driving down the road with a 100 dollar kit, and only 1 headlight working.

Its not garbage, I've always bought vvme I had a kit last 3 years before one ballast went out. Paying $150 doesnt mean your getting a good kit you could pay $200 and get garbage.

I reccommend the 8000k. Still kinda blue with more usable light. Dont buy the cheap chinese crap from ebay. A good kit should cost $150+

Got mine from theretrofitsource. Properly done with retrofit kit (actually did it to my chevy. Honda will be this winter)

Yeah I decided to get the 8000k and on DDM website they have a 45$ off sale right now so I can get the Hi/Lows for cheaper.

Good info here. I got mine from them and they have great customer service and a lot of good write ups. As stated, a retrofit is the best route to go for safety reasons.

True, I retrofitted mine with TSX clear lens projectors man those were beast at night and the cutoff was sharp. Only downside was i lost highbeams because TSX projectors dont have the highbeam solenoid but i didn't really need the highs anyways

Good Choice. HID PnP kits are the best!

That beam pattern is awful. I hope its an example of why those are shitty HID's?

Why isn't this in the lighting forum?

Fixed for correctness!!!

That light output is horrid!!!! You people should learn there was no good info given in this thread other than a retro fit is a must if you want HID's otherwise you get nothing but glair like in the pic above.

$100 says someone comes in here saying how great the output is in the picture. And that is because most are clueless to the difference between glair and quality lift output!

Like Marc mentioned this should be in the lighting section with all of the other" which pos HID's should I get to cause the most glair" threads.

Do everyone a favor and stop talking out your ***. Also, read and comprehend my entire post before responding. My Phillips kit went in the car as soon as I bought it, upwards of 7 or 8 years ago now. It is still working flawlessly. It's this great thing called research - know what you're getting, and get a quality setup. We don't do "cheap" around here, we do it the right way.

OP unless you're willing to spend the money/time to reasearch, you're better of with a good pair of regular H4 bulbs. I got hids for 40.00 once...WORST LIGHT OUTPUT EVER ! went back to my old bulbs the next week as i was always struggling to see at night. my .02

none of my my ebay kits lasted more than 15 months. And by then, they were so dark. Most averaged 12 months life expectancy.

Volt 8k kit looks great. Looks more white than blue so you might want to get 10k if you want blue.

Will run you about $100 though

See? This is what it's about; Matching colors. These people don't give a rat's *** about light patterns, output or glare or anything technical/functional.

I've had two eBay kits in cars. One failed within a month... The other one lasted 2+ years. It can be hit or miss.

I didn't have a retrofit in my old EK and the light output was decent. However retrofitting is definitely the way to go and it is pretty easy to do on 96-00.
