No.

Blue light is much more harsh on the eyes than white or yellow. So even though there are less lumens coming from 6000K or higher than from a 4300K, it's still going to look like more glare and be more painful to see them coming toward you.

sorry i left you alone in this thread patrick! haha.. man i used to love these discussions of ricer 6000K vs. good HID.. people arent blinding you because of the color of their light, its because they are buying HID kits with no glare protection..

remove your bulbs from your civic, and u will notice the low beam filament inside the H4 bulb has a little shield under it to block any light from hitting the lower half of the reflector which would cause light to go upward into peoples eyes.. now if you go on ebay and piece together a kit the right way, you will have a nice looking kit, without having to get that shitty 6000K to make it look like "the stock blue look"

on my gf's 01 civic, i went on ebay and got H4 adapter shields, similar to the caspers ones of a few years ago.. these ebay ones are much better though, not to mention $25 for a set, rather than $50 for a set.. plus the ebay ones have a notch inside to keep the bulb from spinning when you try to lock the ignitor.. so i bought those for $30 shipped.. usually a set of brand new philips D2S bulbs go for roughly $85 on ebay.. then you can find a set of ballasts anywhere from $150 to $280..

with that setup, you will have perfect glare protection.. you can actually see a cutoff on the wall..

patrick, go on ebay and buy new bulbs..trust me.. if yours are 4 years old now, you will be BLOWN AWAY at the difference new bulbs make.. i changed my stock 2001 osram bulbs to some brand new philips on the m3, and WOW.. i couldnt believe it.. i will probably start changing my HID bulbs every couple years..

I got an aftermarket kit High beam and low beam. No retrofit and I dont blind anyone. I have even tested myself. Had my friend drive my car towards me while I drove another car. I got 6k. I do have 2 shields? this may be why? a stock shield in my headlamp and there is a shield on the aftermarket HID bulb. Im using aftermarket high beam, low beam bulbs w/ factory Acura TL Igniters and Ballast. I like it alot and get lots of complimants on it. I personaly dont like the retro fit deal, using s2000 projectors in a stock lamp. Looks kinda Ricey to me. I like my factory headlamp look. No projector. Thats just my opinion. Opininons are like a$$ holes we have one.

Thats my set up. I need to adjust the passanger side now that I look at it. I have never looked into the retro fit before. But now that I have done some investigating the cutt off line looks really clean w/ the projector! Thinking maybe I might get some projectors from work and reto mine too.

there is no glare at all with that setup.. i have that exact setup on my gf's 2001 civic.. i remember back in the day i had to make my own H4 shields out of coke cans for my friends civics.. worked great.. the new version of those adapters is awesome.. they put a little pin in the shield so the bulb wont spin when you're trying to twist lock the igniter.. so this way, you can put the adapter and bulb in, lock it in place with the pins, then put the igniter onto the bulb.. with the old caspers ones, you had to put the adapter in, lock the bulb into the igniter, then try to put the bulb in, and lock down the pins with that big igniter in the way.. much more simple now.. plus the ebay ones are half price..

oh yeah, found some pics of my friends civic with my coke can shields

notice the bottom half of the reflector is dark.. no upward glare at all.

no.. but it looks just like the stock beam, just less glare.. it has even better glare protection than with an H4 halogen bulb in there.

well with just the casper shield, it was still horrible for me. I just made another shield that goes on to the casper shield.

here is 2 pics. the first one is just the pass side d2s bulb 4300k with the casper/y7turbo custom LOL shield.

this one is with the pass side hid and the driver side regular h4 bulb. LOL it looks the regular bulb has a **** load more glare.

I think i can live with this for a short time, Its a lot better than 100% than the drop in kits i see. i plan on getting some projectors soon, thats why i didnt buy a rebased type kit.

EDIT: i just got both in and wired up and im not to excited with the results. I had to make a larger shield just to cover the glare, this cuts down on how bright the lights are. Its not bad, just not what i expected.

looks like ill be ordering some projectors sooner than i thought. no big deal, i was gonna buy projectors anyway.

Default Re: 4300k vs 6000k? (jewpont)

There's something I have noticed between different brands of bulbs in regards to color. Some of them are "off" by a few hundred kelvin. For example, let's say brand A states their 6000k is "ultra white" yet brand B states their "ultra white" is 5300k or even 7000k.

How would a consumer know what color it really is?

To the OP, it basically comes down to how YOU want it...but I run 4300k in my TL's lows (which came w/ those from factory) and also 4300k in my wife's 98 accord w/ TYC projector headlamps. A retrofit w/ TSX projectors will be later down the line. I also run 3000k (golden yellow) in my TL's fog lights.
