K series or B series

K series or B series
Hey guys I have just bought a 1998 civic eg coupe and I plan to build a drag car of it. My problem is I can't decide between the b18c1 block or the k20a3 block with a k20a2 head. I just need someone to point me in the right direction.

Re: K series or B series
K is the way all motor, it's unbelievable what a stock K can do with just bolt ons and a tune. It cost a lot to go K, idgaf what anyone says, to do it right k is very expensive. It really comes down how much money you have and are willing to spend. B series is much friendlier on the wallet. Good luck.

Re: K series or B series
B
Pros:
-Bolt in to all the most popular chassis'
-Perfect geometry without trying.
-Classic engine/ transmission combo
-Generally affordable
-Ideal for turbo (front mount, no alternator in the way, plenty space)
-Huge parts selection
Cons:
-Small displacement, harder to make a lot of power without boost
-Not as hip
-Lacks modern features like VTC
-Intake faces the firewall
K
Pros:
-More displacement
-Huge potential is any configuration
-Newer technology
-Higher flowing cylinder heads
-Reverse rotation allows for front mount ITBs
Cons:
-Requires a lot of aftermarket parts to swap in, expensive
-More custom, more difficult and time consuming to get it right
-extra considerations such as the hood, power steering, shifting
-Transmissions aren't as popular
-Turbo placement not ideal
Personal favorite: B. Either is an excellent choice.

Re: K series or B series
k20a3 is garbage.... unless you did like you say either a full k20a2 head or a vtec killer setup. That will net you roughly about 200 wheel hp. If you wanted to boost the a3 dont waste your time. All motor i would go with a K24. Boost i would do either the k20 or the k24. What ever you do make sure there is a k in the car. lol You will love it when you get it going . B series is wack.
