Default Valve springs and retainers for a h23

Will the h22 vtec valve springs work in a non-vtec head. Some what like a b-series motors. If so what valve springs and retainers and valves would you all use.

Nope, they are different. I have an RM (Rocket Motorsports) valvetrain for my H23 and I would say it's very good stuff, and everything I have read about it has been good. It's just basic springs, titanium retainers, and shims for the exhaust valves.

Im running KMS dual race springs and chromoly retainers on my h23.
The service at KMS isnt the greatest but the springs and retainers looked good.
Crower makes a set of springs and retainers also for the H23. But then again it just plans on what your going to do with your car.

Shims for the exhaust valves? I never got those with my RM VT. I got 16 springs, 16 retainers and 32 locks. That was it.

As for the RM VT being real nice, The set that I was given was very sharp and I had to deburr the retainers to elimnate little particles from coming loose and getting into the oil...

Yessir, the seller gave me these 8 shims for the exhaust valves...I suppose it could have been a custom job or something. They look like mild steel with the surface rust on them:

I may only have 7 once my cat gets finished with them.

Weird....different version or generation maybe? Or maybe mine aren't RM...I didn't get them from the dealer or anything.

http://www.m24x.com

Here's some detail about their valvetrain:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by RM &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Available in Gen1 or Gen2 versions.

Gen1 springs have 95 lbs. on the seat and 265 lbs. at 12mm of lift. These can handle up to 13+ mm of lift when used with the Gen1 retainers.

Gen2 springs have 55 lbs. on the seat and 180 lbs. at 12mm of lift. These springs can handle up to 14mm of lift when used with the Gen2 retainers.

Gen2 retainers are made of 6AL4V titanium. By using these retainers you can use a higher lift cam due to it's increased install height. By increasing the install height it also allows more retainer to valve seal clearance and prevents spring binding. They also have the same tight fitment that our Gen1 springs and retainers are known for.

Our Gen1 and Gen2 inner and outer springs can be mixed and matched to attain different spring pressures</TD></TR></TABLE>

2 versions
